Over the years he has collected losses against Clinton Mitchell (which can be excused), Roy Jones Jr, Jermain Taylor twice, and Joe Calzaghe.

Now whilst losses against these fighters is not disgraceful, the man is still placed above them by many fans, in particular Calzaghe and Roy Jones? How can this be? He lost against the two fighters who are always being compared against him, as to who the best fighter between 160-175 of this generation has been. By process of elimination, Hopkins is clearly below both due to the fact he lost to them. No ifs or buts, his name is on Jones' and Calzaghes resume therefore is below them. Also before we get the Nard nuthuggers coming in saying he didnt actually lose to Joe. Guess what, he did, he started feigning low blows and couldn't keep up with the pace, and lost a close but clear decision.

Now, onto his wins. On paper he has some very good names on his resume, but the majority of these are just that, decent on paper.

His two biggest wins came against blown up welterweights in DLH and Tito, and anyone with half a brain knew they would lose. Tito may have destroyed Joppy, but the guy was not elite at 160, he was elite at 147. Same goes for De La Hoya, despite the fact it was fought at a catchweight of 156, he still had no business being in the ring with Hopkins, the naturally much bigger man.

Kelly Pavlik and Winky Wright. With all due respect are very good fighters, but both fought outside of there best weights, and to add to this, Pavlik was sick/ill. Winky, a blown up junior middleweight fighting against Hopkins at very near on Light Heavyweight, a fat puffed up version of the man who dominated light middleweight. Pavlik to add to this, was always overhyped, and is a come forward slugger, someone who's style is tailor made for Hopkins.

Glen Johnson and Tarver, two RIDICULOUSLY overrated fighters. Johnson is a come forward slugger, and was embarassed by Hopkins. Tarver has just never been much good.

      And that's it.

Now this isn't to bash on the abilities and skills of Hopkins, as the man is a very good fighter, however, his resume does not put him Calzaghe.
At least he is going after the real Cruiserweight champion in Tomasz Adamek and not the IBO Cruserweight champ in Danny Green like Roy Jones wants to do if he beats Jeff Lacy. Calzaghe and Jones cherrypicked their opponents too much. So what if Hopkins lost to those guys in competitive fights. Is Ken Norton a greater fighter than Ali because he beat him? Hell no. You are discrediting Bernard's wins over Tarver and Johnson but fail to mention that those two guys knocked Roy Jones out cold. And a prime Kelly Pavlik is a better fighter than anyone on Calzaghe's resume except Hopkins obviously and maybe Kessler. And do you honestly think Calzaghe would beat the version of Hopkins that destroyed Antwun Echols? I sure don't. This is a troll thread started by a troll.

I agree, Hopkins is very overrated. He beat smaller men and lost to those his size. All the while being as safe and boring as possible while pretty much cheating in the ring.

I really think people hate Hopkins so much that he could move up to Cruserweight and beat Adamek. Then he could drop back down to 175 and beat the Dawson-Johnson rematch winner. After that he could fight Paul Williams at a catch weight of 170 and whip his ass. And at 47 years old beat the winner of the 168 tourney and the idiots like the guy that started this thread still wouldn't give him any credit.

Im sure B-Hops resume does kinda suck. He has probably never had a job in his life being an X con and all (other than working for Golden Boy)...but his record on Boxrec is kinda good.

If he just got into the ring with Adamek, I would give him vast credit.

Just got into the ring with him, thats it. He wont tho, I bet on it.

Bernard Hopkins has one of the best resumes what are you talking about He fought RJJ,Tarver(who annihalated RJJ),Winky,Tito,De la hoya,Jermain taylor, joppy, glen johnson, kelly pavlik, joe calzaghe. His only real lost were RJJ and CLinton Mitchell.Everyother lost was debatable.I think he could have beaten RJJ in a rematch.

He should be placed above Joe and Roy. I mean if most rankings can put George Foreman below Joe Frazier after Foreman beat him twice very bad then why can't Hopkins be ranked higher than Roy or Joe (maybe not Roy, but Joe for sure). Trevor Berbick is not ranked higher than Ali either. And you're a fan of the klits who are just terrible.
