wbo is gonna strip cotto if he doesnt pay the sanc fees. much like when pac fought MAB for the first time, oscar de la **** & greedy boy promotions wanted to be cheap & not pay the sanc fees thats why technically pac is only a 5 division champion not 6. only reason why he is considered a 6 division is that MAB was the lineal ring magazine champ.

its not up to cotto if the belt is on the line. its up to the sport & sanc body. his only control is to pay or not to pay.
That may be, or it may be because, as stated in the article, they agreed at 145, not 147. There are those who believe that a world welterweight championship fight should be at 147, no exceptions, and Pacquiao probably agrees with them. If I have to bet on a reason, it's the economics. 400KUSD can feed a lot of homeless people in the Philippines, you know (really beginning to love this cliche). Pacquiao would rather add that to his charities than give it to the WBO. This Pacquiao... nobody can pull a fast one on this guy.

      theoretically.

it's all up to the orgs though.

the orgs can do whatever they want. remember when zab judah was the wbc , wba and ibf champion at 147 and he fought baldomir?

baldomir only paid the wbc. so when he beat zab he won the wbc , zab kept his ibf belt and the wba went vacant. lmao

where's that nate campbell promoter dude one punch? he knows more about this crap than i do.

my knowledge of it is very limited.

I have to say this at the outset though: Pacquiao is not chasing boxing immortality. He is THAT HUMBLE. He just wants to give boxing fans a good fight, something that will give them joy watching, and this is why he chose the Cotto fight. Title is not on the line because they agreed to fight at 145, not 147. Pacquiao also aware of the economics of boxing, better than people might think.

        Kumbinasyon

        By Manny Pacquiao

Sana ay nasa mabuti kayong kalagayan saan man kayo naroroon.

Good day once again to all my beloved countrymen, friends and followers of this column. I hope you are all doing well wherever you may be.

After I gave the go-signal for my fight with Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, I need to finish a lot of things before I start intense training in September.

I accepted the fight and I will face Cotto at 145 pounds because I know that he has the biggest potential to give a good fight for the fans of boxing. I know that many fans today want to see good fights but it seems to me that there is not much interest in the fights calendared this year.

I have heared that many boxers these days get injuries, and because of the economic recession happening in many countries around the world, sometimes we cannot help but think that it is not a coincidence that these two things happen at the same time

I also learned that the big fights in the coming months are not being patronized by the fans and the ticket sales are sluggish. These may be due to the current state of the economy as a result of which the boxing fans follow only the boxers they idolize.

I accepted the challenge to fight the gentleman Mr. Cotto because I know that this is what the fight fans want to see, because my style and the style of the idol from Puerto Rico are absolutely exciting to watch and definitely not boring. Because Cotto and myself are expected to collide at full throttle from the opening bell, I know (translator: geez even in his article Pacquiao keeps using his "you know" cliche, in the Philippine there is a TV commercial where all he says is "you know") that fight fans will once again pack the venue to see this fight, and people all over the world, not just my fellow countrymen, will watch this fight.

I also know (translator: geez that word again) and I have seen with my own eyes that there are many fight fans from Puerto Rico who support and follow Cotto, like his last fight at Madison Square Garden which I saw live. I saw and experienced that the Puerto Ricans are like the Filipinos in the way they support and love their fellow Puerto Rican. They also received me warmly and respected me, so I have a high respect for the boxing fans from Puerto Rico.

Championship belts will not be on the line in this fight because of the catch weight of 145 pounds, 2 pounds lower than the 147 welterweight limit. However, even without belts on the line, what is more important is that Cotto and I will fight for the No. 1 pound for pound title which guarantees an active fight, no running, no retreating, no chasing around.

In the coming months, I will again ask for your full support which I will need to prepare and train. I hope that we will all be one once again in our prayers

Hanggang sa muling Kumbinasyon. God Bless Us All.

Until the next Combination article. God Bless Us All.
There was no way a title would have been on the line without changing many things,it's not just the 145lbs,the whole deal woul need to change

what are u 5 years old? feed the homeless GTFO with that shiet. he's gonna make a minimum 15-20 mill in this fight. He can afford to pay the 400k sanc fee & feed the homeless at the same time.

its better to feed the homeless as a 7 division champ only man in history than to be tied with a cross dresser. manny is too much of a man to be tied w/ that ****.

dude , the only reason the title is not on the line is because cotto doesn't want to pay the sanctioning fees.

wbo don't give a **** as long as they get paid.

i know pac does a lot of charity work in philippines.

but believe me......paying the 400k has nothing to do with what he spends on charities.

              it's all about money.

Don't worry, there's an asterisk (*) that separates Manny from that cross dresser when it comes from being a 6-division champ, aside from beat down that Pacman gave to him...

I love how Manny isnt exactly trash talking but making sly jabs here and there about Mayweather's rib injury and the weak ticket sales not being a coincidence and his fight with cotto will have no "running" "retreating" or "chasing around".
