I totally disagree people pick sports based on the representation of their race. Hmm...if that was the case the NBA would be nothing in the U.S. and people would watch hockey instead. Instead Hockey is on the versus network with playoff games struggling to beat recaps of WWE RAW and the NBA is bringing in huge ratings and making huge dollars for its two biggest starts Kobe (who is black, never went to college and accused of raping a white girl) and Lebron James (Never went to college, and is black)...meanwhile in hockey the two best players are white dudes with no rapres in their past. NFL has overtaken baseball as "America's Pastime" and it overtook baseball as the number of blacks in baseball fell into the single digit percentile and the number of black players in the NFL rose. So more white people prefer to watch the sport with an increasing black population than the sport with a decreasing one.

Hmm...and as for popularity, boxing ruled the fighting world when it was all about black fighters. Think about Ali, Frazier, Foreman, and even Tyson, Bowe, Jones, Lewis etc...when pretty much every comedian had a joke like "I just hate how fake Rocky is, two white dudes fighting over the heavyweight championship." However, once whites took over the heavyweight division is actually when fans started jumping to MMA. Again it has nothing to do with the race of the people, but rather the quality of the programming and the commercial packaging. UFC puts on much fewer events, stacks their cards, has had better promotion and appeals more to the braindead hilljacks...not saying only to them, but braindead hilljacks would rather watch Bill Goldberg tackle and elbow someone and roll around on the ground or watch kimbo slice beat up a homeless person than watch a Klitschko technically obliterate another guy.

The only argument I could see is Americans like watching white and black american athletes, thats why football is so popular its all black and white americans. Once latinos and asians started moving into baseball, fans moved away. NHL has too many non-americans. Once the euro's and the latinos moved into boxing thats when the fans left. The NBA remains popular with its strong american population, but might actually reduce the salary cap due to fans moving away from having too many europeans and now 2 asians (however Yao being forced to retire might save the American fan base). Soccer is all about Euro's and latinos so has no chance in the U.S.. Now I think these arguments are absurd and I think popularity is all about promotion, trends and the product, but this argument would at least have a leg to stand on.
