"Super Six" Super Middleweights Hit Germany

All six superstars, their promoters and SHOWTIME Sports Senior VP & GM Ken Hershman were present in Berlin today as the Super Six World Boxing Classic PR Tour hit Germany. After an official press conference in the Grand Ballroom of the renowned Hotel Adlon, the six fighters posed in front of the Brandenburg Gate in the Berlin sun. It certainly was an event to remember, with six top athletes and their famous promoters sharing the same podium. Undefeated Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward came face-to-face with his rivals for the first time after missing the previous presentations due to the flu. “It is great to be here,” he said. “I really wanted to make the effort and come here after I could not attend the events in New York and Copenhagen. I am thrilled to participate and I am very confident I will win.” [details]

thats the best part about the tournament, its pretty much wide open

            left- handed but orthodox???

I'm just back from the press conference. This truely is something great. There is one interesting and odd thing that I noticed and asked myself. Don't know if any of you guys here know that already. Seeing Kessler and Ward signing photographs, I noticed they are both left- handed. However, as we could see so far, both are orthodox fighters. That should make their opponents be very careful about their jab, but not necessarily about lead rights. Can anybody tell me why a fighter would do that?

Some fighters like Dawson and DLH, for some reason, use the opposite stance. Of course it gives you some kind of an edge when your natural power hand is used for the jab.

Kessler has a good jab, yes, but his back hand is also powerful. He has a big straight right hand. Ward may fight like a right hander, but he switches to lefty a lot during his fights. He's as good in either stance. I personnaly favorize Ward to win the tournament.

I don't know who will win. I really don't think we should count anyone out either. This is such a huge event and I can't wait. There is so much skill in this ****.

The only thing I will say is that Andre Dirrell has a chance to become a American- Crossover Star. I seen the way he was acting at the photo shoot. Dude has a personality and looks. Plus he has skills.
Stamina could be the key in all of these fights. I don't see that many KO's either. The only one would probably be Taylor against AA. The good thing is for Taylor is that AA is a slow starter. So he needs to pace himself. But I'm not to confident with Taylor anymore

I'm surprised to here that, didn't know those guys were left handed.

It's not that unsual, DLH is left handed, Manny Pacquiao is right handed, apparently Chad Dawson is as well.

I guess they do that because it's what works best for them, although I'm not sure I've ever heard them comment on it to be honest.

It really is wide open, pretty much every fight is tough to pick. I am skeptical that Taylor (endurance) or Froch (speed) can win it all, but both will be competitive in any event.

I think I am most curious about Dirrell's ability to rise to the occasion... he could really explode onto the scene and I think his schedule is pretty favorable; I like him to outbox Froch, he has a major height advantage against Abraham, and I think he edges Ward... 2-1 is very doable and 3-0 is possible.
