The same thing you know Pacman knows. So if he called out Cotto (which he did when he told his promotor to make the fight) and Cotto says yes, lets fight but i wont go under 145 and Pacman agrees, no excuses!!!!

I Pacman counters and say no we fight at 143 and Cotto agrees, No excuses!!!!

If they can't get to any weight agreement on weight and the fight doesn't happen, No excuses!!!!

No boxer is obligated to sign a contract to fight any boxer

        weight issue?

The welterweight bracket starts at 141 lbs and the limit is 147 lbs. Pacquiao is a smaller guy fighting a bigger guy. Let's not forget that. Common sense will tell you that you have to even the playing field a little bit to match up two fighters who are not the same size. If cotto weighs 147 lbs at weigh in he could climb the ring on fight night at a monstrous 160 lbs or more! A fighter could add 10 - 15 lbs after weigh in. On the other hand if cotto weighs 143 lbs during weigh in he could only go up to 153 - 157 lbs on fight night. Pacquiao's heaviest weight ever on fight night was just 148 lbs against dela hoya. A difference of 7 to 9 lbs is a big difference. Imagine absorbing an extra 7 to 9 lbs of weight and power from your opponent for 12 rounds..

Pacquiao has been dishing out impressive performance one after the other against bigger opponents that he makes us forget that he started his boxing career at 106 lbs!! and belongs naturally in the Superfeatherweight division (130 lbs.) while miguel cotto has been a welterweight all his boxing life.

        Go figure.

you obviously started watching boxing recently. cotto started at jr ww, and he had to go up to ww cause he couldnt make the 140 limit no more and was fighting weak his last couple of fights at jr ww. 144-145 should be fine for this fight. if it ever happens

Agree!! If they sign the contract, it means they thought about it and weighed the pros and cons.

              NO EXCUSES!!

Well you obviously didn't get the entire point of what I wrote. I know cotto was a jr welterweight champion before moving up to welterweight to fight Quintano(?) I think for the championship. I was talking about the fighters FIGHT NIGHT WEIGHT. Even if cotto weighed 140lbs as a jr welter during the weigh in, he steps in as a WELTERWEIGHT during fight night. Anyway the fact remains that Cotto is still the bigger, heavier fighter who could become more heavy and bigger during FIGHT NIGHT against pacquiao who is lighter and has a smaller body frame. Hence I was explaining to the people who does not understand about the "catch weight" issue. I hope this fight pushes thru it will be one for the ages.
