Kevin Johnson Finally Makes A Statement

By Jake Donovan - A glimmer of hope was offered in the heavyweight division as Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson scored the most impressive win of his career. The undefeated American heavyweight overcame a slow start to score two knockdowns and eventually force a sixth round stoppage of previously unbeaten Devin Vargas at Harrah’s in Atlantic City. Impressive performance by Kevin Johnson. I'm sure they'll have him back on ESPN before too long.

I wonder if he'll fight Monte Barrett next? It would be even better if John Ruiz would live up to his word and be willing to take on a younger contender like Kevin.

        not bad

Vargas didnt look like he had any pop in his punches but still it was a cool fight to watch.

Still not sold on him beating an out of shape Vargas, I like to see him fight Arreola next.

Chambers would take Johnson to school but he's fighting Dimintrenko next.

It's funny, Johnson was going to fight Kiwi Hype job shane cameron, but sadly it fell through.

We have a Champion, who is a "Jabber"( i mean the one whose jab is a main weapon)...

We need a diferent kind of young fighters rising...

I like what i saw. Kevin Johnson went out there and put up a nice show on tv. Something he hadnt really done before. I think he can be a major player in the heavyweight division.

I think Vargas would have won this fight,if he would have kept up his work rate. Also it would have helped if he had given different angles and looks to Johnson. The only time Johnson hit Vargas cleanly was when Vargas just stood their with his back against the ropes. If Vargas would of used more lateral movement I think he would have won....

                  Props to Johnson though

Johnson finally got a crap opponent out of there. He needed that. The kid has so much talent but so little desire. They need to continue to keep him busy and hopefully he'll get on TV some more. There are a few young fighters out there that Johnson can get in with and create a buzz about him. I would like to see if Johnson can handle someone like Arreola and vice versa. Bring it on baby.
