Lee Beard Talks Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, Floyd Sr.

Lee Beard, the assistant trainer for Ricky Hatton, was very impressed with the performance of Manny Pacquiao. He, along with head trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr, had a plan in place to overtake Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas. The Filipino fighter exploded in the first round, sending Hatton down twice, and followed up the second by knocking Ricky out cold. [details]

Lee Beard spoke about points in the fight when Ricky tried to impose his size and how valiant Pacquiao was in being too fast for it.. As though there were different phases in the bout. I don't want to suggest this fight didn't have didn't shifts in it, but the whole thing went less than 2 rounds. Pac pretty much dominated every moment outside of the very first 30 seconds. With that said, Beard sounded very gracious about the whole ordeal. I wonder why he spoke as though there was no rift when there has been so much talk about Senior's discontent.

        Agreed.

A lot of people were saying that Ricky was being disrespectful to Manny after his "a few more rounds" interview and for some of the stuff he said in the build-up but you'd be hard pushed to find me a more down-to-earth guy than Hatton...

One exception being Manny.. ****, Hatton can't beat him at anything!

              Hehe, true...

              Manny bring gracious perhaps?

It'll be interesting to see if the real story ever comes out on what happened with Floyd senior though.

The guy comes across as such a nugget.

I see Chris Eubank's son, Chris Jr, is under Mayweather's wing... one to keep an eye on

Beard told a few of my mates that went to see the fight that Mayweather wanted to put the fight back a few weeks.

Hatton was getting battered in sparring and in Mayweathers eyes wasn't ready.

Hatton didn't want to postpone because of all the fans/tickets/flights etc etc.

Make of that what you want. Don't shoot the messenger.

I've heard rumors from some sources of the fact that Lee Beard had requested a very large sum of money from Floyd, Sr. during this training camp. Apparently since Lee was the one who put Ricky and Floyd in touch, he felt he was owed money. The rumors indicate that Floyd, Sr. paid him a sum of around $30,000 for the Malignaggi fight, but that since Ricky's fight against Manny was much bigger, that Lee had equested something along the lines of $250,000 dollars. When Floyd refused, Lee began causing friction in the camp, even though he was being paid by both Ricky and was expected to receive a sum from Floyd as well, but since Lee knew that Floyd's payday was going to be considerable, he asked for more money.

I got this news from a valid source, believe me or don't, but that is what word on the street it.
