Hatton's loss is fault of all around him

Floyd Mayweather Sr. isn’t done trash-talking.

Only this time, the trainer also known for his bravado, had nasty things to say against Ricky Hatton and his assistant trainer Lee Beard as well.

Mayweather said Hatton, whom he trained, has no one else to blame but himself and Beard for his devastating loss to Manny Pacquiao.

The outspoken trainer, who called Freddie Roach a “joke coach,” told 8countnews.com that Hatton “training on the side” with Beard was the culprit.

The report said Mayweather claimed that Beard kept on giving Hatton additional training sessions. This may have caused some confusion on the boxer’s part.

“You got to listen to your corner, simple as that. And like I said once before there was turmoil in the camp,” Mayweather told 8countnews.com.

Mayweather, who also called Pacquiao an amateur fighter, said the infighting in the Hatton camp in the days leading to the fight was to blame.

    Not him. Not his style.

“It showed up in the fight. Not because of me. It showed in the fight because he had another person training him when I wasn’t around and sometimes when I was around,” he said.

“He (Beard) guided Ricky in the wrong way.”

Again, despite the one-sided victory that had Pacquiao flooring Hatton thrice in two rounds, he took a shot at the Filipino icon by saying he doesn’t stand a chance at Floyd Mayweather Jr. if and when they fight.

“I don’t think Manny Pacquiao is a good fighter,” he said.

    What about Roach?

“Do I think Freddie Roach is a good trainer? No,” he told 8countnews.com.

Whether it’s true or false, word got out during fight week that Hatton was disappointed with Mayweather showing up late for some training sessions.

It was even written that “Floyd showed up in round seven on the final day of sparring. On fight night he showed up as Ricky was getting his bandages on! That speaks volumes. Lee doesn’t have an ego. Mayweather’s is the size of Vegas.”

It seems that Mayweather is no longer interested in training Hatton if the British brawler does return to the ring.

At the post-fight press conference, he said “a fighter who suffers that kind of a knockout may never be the same again.”

Gareth Williams, chief executive of Hatton Promotions, told the UK press that Hatton and Mayweather haven’t spoken to each other after the fight.

“No, they haven’t (spoken) and that’s very disappointing. It does make you question the motives of people and why they were working [with Ricky]. When I’d left Las Vegas there’d been no contact at all, which is disappointing,” Williams said.

“Things are leaking out. It’s fair to say there were things in the training camp which weren’t right. Knowing Ricky as I know him, and his dad, that’s the last thing they would want. The last thing they would try to do is point fingers at other people.

“Rick made a mistake and got caught. I think to a large extent he was let down by people around him,” he added. “But we’re not going to start making excuses or trying to divert blame because that’s not the way we are.”
