    POLL: Clottey Top WW material?

    For the record; this was my last public TOP 10 WWs. Paul Williams also is a TOP 5 WW, cause he can still make the weight and fight in a competitive fashion. PBF was out of the equation until recent days, but obviously also is a TOP 5 WW. Anyway, this thread is about Clottey...

    I believe Clottey is a TOP 5 WW. If he beats Cotto and Mosley, he should be crown the top WW. Unless PBF decides to fight a real WW contender. So before his fight with Cotto, let us make clear on where you rank Clottey as a WW, and how it affects the resume of those who beat Clottey. Specially, when there are so many "out-of-the-closet-gay-groopie-mafias" been created lately. Where do you stand on this issue as a boxing fan or as a "group"?

    JUST IN CASE, Pacquiao fought at 147lbs ONCE and ODLH had to step in the ring at 147lbs. That fight doesn't count as a REAL WW fight. PAC is out of the equation for NOW.

      He is slightly overrated, but if Cotto doesn't bring his A-game. Clottey can win by decision. But he doesn't really have that many fans to begin with... Kind of sad if you think about it...

        I say beatin Cotto and SSM is enuf. I think Clottey can mos def take Cotto. I don't see him beatin SSM tho.

          Back to your poll...If Clottey beats Cotto, which I think he will then the only fight out there next for him is Mosley, obviously. Paul Williams probably should not even be considered a WW anymore, he's a freak of nature and too big for the division which is why he's been avoided so often. 160lbs is probably his best weight. He doesn't need to beat Floyd either because of his recent inactivity and prior to his retirement, his reluctance to fight any of the top WW's out there. Floyd doesn't have Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Williams, Quintana or even a Cintron on his resume. If Clottey beats Mosley & Cotto then of course without a doubt he should be considered the best WW.
          GOOD POST. Clottey wanted to fight PAUL, maybe if he beats Cotto, he lures PW back to WW. There is a good chance that if Clottey wins in June, he might fight SSM or PW next. And PW vs. Clottey can ONLY enhace the resume of the winner plus WILL gain BIG MEDIA attraction; thus make MORE MONEY in the future. PW has a solid fan base now, and Clottey could take that ride, if SSM is not interested.  Then again, IF clottey beats cotto and IF Maragrito ever comes back, I see Margarito screaming Joshua's name. Another interesting match to build from. Clottey's way to the top is hard, but full of choices IF HE BEATS COTTO.

            I got tons of respect for Clottey too. But don't get me wrong. I got Cotto winning and beccoming the BEST WW that night. He jumps on SSM. Cotto defeated SSM convincingly 115-113. SSM was the first one to accept the decision in the post fight inetrview.

                  No point in gunning for lil floyd, since he is gunning for Juan and Manny.
