I just think a loss to Clottey would ruin any claims that he is the top Welterweight in the world, or if he ever was. I also think it would change his status as an "elite" boxer to a "very, very good boxer".
Yep, agreed. There are still many options for him even if he did lose, which I think he will. Clottey might be a little too much. Not too sure though. Clottey is hungry for it.

Cotto will still be able to get back to the top or get another title though if he loses. There is still Berto, Collazo etc etc. If Cotto loses I imagine that Berto's team would see a fight with Cotto as a good learning fight. I also think Cotto would beat Berto though.

It will be a very hard fight for both guys. I hope Clottey wins it though. He has waited for this a very, very long time.

I think this would really hurt Cottos future in the division as one of the best if he loses. Your thoughts?
trust me cotto is going to outbox clottey with ease.

He can always rematch Margarito, if he loses that fight, that's would be it for him, he mentioned anyway he wants to retire at 30

cotto will win by huge UD with a few kd in the late rds.

there's no way that clottey can win.

A loss to Clottey would be a serious setback. He's getting a by on the loss to Margarito because of the cloud the illegal wraps create and the coincidental beatdown that Mosley gave Margarito. But a loss to another top fighter and it would be a long climb back. This fight is pivitol to getting his status back as the top guy.

I don't see Cotto losing to Clottey. Clottey is a really good fighter, but I don't think he can keep up with Cotto's work he'll be putting in. Clottey doesn't apply the type of pressure it takes to beat Cotto. Cotto will box him and bring the fight to him. If Clottey stays in his shell and tries countering all night he's definitely going to lose.

Clottey has to stay very busy and put the pressure on Cotto. If not, Cotto coasts to a UD or ref stoppage.

I saw Cotto vs Margo and Margo vs Clottey. No way Cotto looses to CLottey.
Cotto by KO in the 7
