Originally posted by IMDAZED View PostGreat post. I don't see a KO either way and I think it's a close fight. Duran was deceptively quick and his movement was underrated as well. Not Floyd-like but very efficient. But at 135, Floyd seemed uncomfortable with the weight of his opponents (Sosa gave him trouble early on with pressure and Castillo gave him hell). He actually looked stronger at 140. At 135, Duran would unsettle him.

-jab, straight right hand-cross-uppercut-counterpunching-movment-body positioning-defense-blocking, slipping. left hook to the body, feinting, footwork, upperbody movement. bascially conventional fundamentals-sosa had this over duran. but it was how he threw his punches he stayed sharp,
skills
-unconventional fighting-brawling-not nessicarily unorthodox, just not textbook boxing. duran did jab, i know this, he did go to the body, he did throw overhand rights and left hooks and straight right hands---but in an uncomventional way-more of less he threw those punches like a brawler...can get wild, but was very effective, he wasn't just a brawler, just brawler at best, but he had fundamentals, just had his style that he knew would work. he was a versatile fighter, no doubt, i've never discredited duran, he was a mnoster and amazing fighter, but he would not beat floyd, and sosa's style was more equipped at beating him tan duran's. just my opinion but i strongly believe this.
i just watched duran/barkley last week...and that only intensifies my argument. hell of a fight though. duran was a speial fighter.
as far as the pocket goes, you see that's my point. you gave srl and floyd the best chance at beating him by moving. i highly disagree. srl threw many punches but would brawl you, he was just so dynamic but his inside fight game never impressed, unitl benitez anyway, because of how he defended in the pocket. he had a tendency to want to brawl and throw flurries in the pocket a lot, which i never like because he got hit doing this. and trust me, duran landed thaty overhand right on his ass so i would favor leonard over duran anytime if he moved. floyd's defense in the pocket is too pronounced for duran to really expose his inside game, and i explained the reasons earlier. i am willing to bet, floyd outlands duran on the inside and duran misses many of his shots, i guarantee you this.
there you have it

I can't believe I am even talking about this, but it seems to me you are saying that Sosa was more adapt to beating Mayweather than Duran because he fought more conventional. Is that right?
