I was pleasantly impressed by the durability he showed in that fight. So far it's the only one I've seen of his, but it changed my opinion of him for a short while... I've since gone back to thinking he's a right nob, but the man can undoubtedly fight (even though he looks totally wrong with his poor man's impression of Roy Jones; arm held low, etc.)

It should be fuckin treason that ITV didn't snap this one up and hype it like they did for Calzaghe-Lacy, Audley-Danny, among others. This is potential FOTY stuff.

Many american's seem to think that Carl is a complete bum, mind you they thought the same of calzaghe before the lacy fight and we all know how that turned out.

          They don't still think he's a bum? :laff2:

Imagine a bunch of new posts being made today by Daggum and co., praising the Slappy one to holy mighty and repenting for every bad word said about him. Oh yeah. I'm on high alert to repel any of this April Fool's ****, man...

Yeah they do think he's a bum, all i'm saying is that that turned out to be a case of substance over style and i see the same happening again.

True. But bearing in mind Taylor fathered Lacy in their last fight, I just don't see Froch doing quite the same as Calzaghe did in '06. He might have the hunger to do so, in his attempts to outdo his secret lover "J.C.", but it all depends on what Taylor has to offer him. I mean, the guy's beaten Hops twice and ever so nearly KO'ed the **** out of Pavlik.

My preference would be for Froch to win, but my mind is saying Taylor will edge out a win if he can't test his chin.

I expect Froch to take his game to another level and edge out JT however I wouldn't be surprised if your pick happens either.

Interesting how most people picking Froch focus on what Taylor hasn't done instead of what he has done... and on what Froch could do, instead of what he has done...

That said, I find just as much logical fault in the sentiment "Taylor beat Hopkins; who has Carl beat?" as a justification of picking Taylor, as I do in those who use Taylor's KO loss to Pavlik as some kind of proof he'll lose to Froch.

This is a new day for both fighters, and I think it will be a hell of a sc****. I think Taylor will win a decision, but will be watching with the knowledge that Froch could end it at any time if Taylor gets ****** and lets his guard down (face it, if Froch didn't have power, this fight wouldn't be at all interesting).

                    This is true.

I asked my mum who Carl Froch is, she doesn't have a clue. Ask my sister who Joe Calzaghe is, not a clue. Ask either of them who Ricky Hatton is "that boxer from Hyde who's a City fan".

A household name is someone who would be known to someone outside of that sport and Joe and Carl aren't. I don't like golf, but I know Tiger Woods. I have no interest in F1 but I know Lewis Hamilton. I have interest in Tennis but I know Andy Murray. They're household names.

While everyone is riding pavliks nuts, lets not forget that Taylor is the one that has the good resume and the tough title defenses. Pavlik on the other hand has beat Lockett, Rubio, and now is fighting Mora, while losing to Hopkins. Pavlik is still just the man who beat the man to me. I think Taylor is underrated and will win this fight.
Taylor is underrated, but so is Froch.
