Yeah I support him and Im still a great fan, do you think I care what you think? lol...As long as Margarito maintains his innocence I'll believe him over some corrupt, incompetent, bloated state bureaucracy.
Im supposed to believe that the people that missed it in the first place are all the sudden capable of anything other than covering their own ass? I think not. The commission is a joke.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it baby boy.

So for those pundits of the turn-of-the-century fighters who said that none of the old-time champions ever used plaster in their gloves because it would break their hands? Yeah, eat it.
Also, there's no way this was the only time Margarito/his trainer pulled this garbage. You mean to tell me he wasn't afraid of a 26 year old wrecking machine in Cotto, but he was afraid of a 37 year old pops who weight jumps?
Cotto is 33-0(1).
EDIT: @poontango: Maintains his innocence? He just lost it. These test results prove, without a doubt, that he is absolutely guilty. He cheated. That makes him a cheater. At least be a man and admit it. I've got no beef with you, and I'm not going to smack-talk you for rooting for the guy. Everyone's entitled to their hero. But at least admit when your dude cheated.

I'm not saying its not possible that this was premeditated because we will never know for sure, none of us in these forums were there to see those wraps personally, but I would really like to see Margarito sit down with a credible news outlet and address this at length.
At the very least it would be interesting to hear his side of it. And I think we would be able to tell whether or not he is lying or not if the interviewer really does his job right.
I'll tell you this though, if he doesn't seem eager to come out and challenge this forcefully then he probably is guilty.
I know if was innocent I'd be on the phone with HBO tomorrow to tape an interview immediately and take my case to the people.
So I'm going to play it by ear for a few weeks and see what happens.

The initial suspension was due to Marg having a "foreign object" within his wraps. That right there is grounds for suspension. This new discovery is just icing on the cake. He's ***ed!

I just read 28 pages of this thread and I feel ****ed up. I still don't like how the CSAC was able to deflect responsibility for incompetence and how they went about the suspension (IMO, they should have banned Marg temporarily for a few months and then re-convened when the results were available to make an official ruling).
But more than than that, now that there's official results of the substance, I just feel bad and think Margarito and Capetillo acted disgracefully. Even if the "plaster elements" had not been found, just having any substance in the wraps is unprofessional and is not a good look. I strongly feel that Margarito should not box professionally any longer, anywhere.
So far as the Cotto issue, I personally don't think any investigation will ever happen because, like a few people pointed out, that's like the NSAC saying, "Hey, why don't you come see if we screwed up too?" (And I still think that the blood on the wraps is Margarito's own blood not of any opponent. And I think what I've heard said in the corner by Team Margarito during the Cotto fight is not conclusive evidence. It can be interpreted in different ways. That's just my opinion).
But certainly, part of the consequences for Team Margarito's actions is the fact that fans will forever doubt his entire career. Regardless of whether or not we ever get "proof," I'm afraid Margarito's team brought this upon themselves the second those inserts were discovered. The only significance of "attempting to cheat" for me is that thankfully Mosley didn't get in the ring against tampered wraps. But just the fact that there was any substance found on the wraps before the fight is indeed cheating.
That's just semantics though. Margarito is going down in history as a cheater. I would argue that what Luis Resto and Panama Lewis did was worse (taking out padding plus adding plaster and then their victim pretty much committed suicide), but it doesn't matter. Part of the consequences for Margarito now is to be compared to Resto. Just like his punishment is to have his whole career tainted by this incident.
We can argue all day about why boxing is not mainstream, but we shouldn't ignore boxing's long sordid past. Boxing has been a dirty business since Day 1. This is just another ****ed-up chapter.
Damn it Margarito. Damn it.
