I think the deck is stacked against him due to his ultra-aggressive style. Guys like Dempsey, Marciano, Tyson were all past it by their late-20s and you wonder how much of himself Diaz is going to want to keep giving. This is a guy in Diaz that has other options in life, this sport is brutal.
Diaz has shown that he can't cope with adversity, notably the cuts, or make adjustments like the best fighters in the world can. Marquez won because he was able to make adjustments early and pull rabbits out of his hat where Diaz kept fighting the same fight all night. Once he got tired and cut, he couldn't maintain his same style of fighting.
In his two defeats, to Campbell and Marquez, he has shown that win or lose, he's going to live and die with the style that he fights. He's got a lot of miles on him for a young fighter, a lot of tough fights, even the wins.
I personally don't know if he'll ever be able to compete at the highest level of the sport, though he can stay in Houston and make a lot of money taking fights on a level just below where he has been fighting.
