It's not "safe" to assume but it's reasonable.

If Cotto was in the center of the ring throwing those punches like Mosley, and not moving back, his punches would have done more damage. But it's impossible to say if they would have done more damage than Shane's.

I just don't think using Margarito is an accurate barometer because Cotto was moving backwards all night. Look at Cotto-Mosley...for the majority of the fight Cotto was moving Mosley backwards and Mosley's punches weren't having as much affect on Cotto who has a weaker chin than Margarito.

It's possible and reasonable to think Mosley punches harder, but who really knows.

Mosley by miles. Shane throws his punches with all of his body weight whereas Cotto plants his feet more and delivers straighter punches. Shane's got broader and bigger shoulders and overall better condition and raw strength as well as the nice butt injection of roids he gets from time to time

This is probably the correct assessment. Cotto is a converted orthodox after all, his left should be better.

I wouldn't have thought so before their respective Margarito fights but the proof is in the pudding i guess

cotto has a stronger left hook than shane?? thats the funniest **** i've ever heard!

then why didnt cotto even come close to wobbling Plasterito? Shane landed that hook and Margarito flew across the ring and the only thing that held him up were the ropes...stop trying to discredit Mosley! Cotto did not hurt Plasterito once, and Mosley knocked him the f-k out!

I think the results tell the truth... cotto hit margo with everything but the kitchen sink and margo made cotto quit. mosley humiliated and destroyed margarito.

Mosley is significantly faster (when he's in good form) - speed allows you to catch opponents off-guard with punches. This sort of punch is much more "powerful" in terms of effect than a simple loaded shot.

didnt shane land all those shots and knocked Plasterito the f-k out?? something Cotto did not even tickle the cheater with, people trying to discredit Mosley are just pathetic! Shane destroyed Plasterito end of story!
