I think that Cotto did the right thing by feeling his opponent out and not getting careless. Jennings made him work a little more than anyone expected. He gave him movement and was not standing in front on him. That was actually good for Cotto. Cotto established his jab, countered and worked the body well. On top of that, he got the result he wanted.

Grade Cotto's performance without biased.............

I gave it a B-, he did it against an opponent he was suppose to beat and look good against. If you think I'm hating, I thought the same with Margs vs Johnson.

Seems to me I would still get jumped by his stans if I don't agree with an A+ performance, even if I would of given it an A.

this is what i think:
after the margacheato loss he's confidence went down to 50%. he was thinking what went wrong, if he's that good or just a hype. after the illegal wraps with the substance and the beat that mosley gave to margarito he thought: that was my fight. that's how it was suppose to end BUT margacheato is f@cking bastard and took away my 0. he's confidence went up to 75%.
When he was walking to the ring and he saw all the people he thought: I have all this fans and all this support. Confidence to 85%. In the first two rounds he was thinking, do I still have it? Am I the same Cotto with the powerful left hook to the body? Am I the TOP WW? That's when came the 4th round. Left hook to the head, hook to the body and jennings to the canvas.
When u saw Cotto running to his corner and kissing his uncle he knew that he's still the same Cotto and maybe a better fighter. At this time he's confidence went to 100% and went in h@lly destruction mode for the 5th round. He, more than anyone else in the world, needed to know if he was the same Cotto. In that 4th round he knew it and by the 5th round we got Cotto back at 100%.
Cotto is right now, the TOP WW and the only one that can give him some extra work is Mosley.Last edited by larr12; 02-22-2009, 05:47 PM.

Seems like the tattoos may have given him an edge.
But seriously, I would've preferred to see him come back against better comp.
He was patient then turned up the heat when he had Jennings hurt.
All in all, he did look strong as if he didn't miss a beat after the loss.
I'd give him an A- based on a great performance against a mediocre opponent.
He's back in top form.

To me it feels like a vintage Cotto. Except a little rusty. He feels his opponent out in the first round and little by little he imposes his will on you as the fight goes on. Jennings lookes scared and the right type of fighter for Cotto coming off a loss.
