    I hate Cotto interviews

Now don't get me wrong, I like Cotto and his very entertaining to watch and currently my favorite fighter right now. But daym are his interview awful, all his answers are systematic and predictable. I just can't explain it, but this guy doesn't seem to have a personality, he never has an opinion or something interesting to say. And it's very annoying.

Plus, this will be very difficult for him if he wants to become a household name or become a very big draw.

I understand what you mean but not everyone would be the same, We all cant be Muhammed ali in interviews..

Some people are camera shy, reserve and would rather go away from the everyday life of some boxers, While others thrive in them.

that's because he is not a glory whore, and spotlight craver. he talks with his skills in the ring.

Lennox's personality was about as entertaining as castration.... in comparison to Tyson.

            I read an article today..

Cotto seems to get a lot of grief from the Puerto Rican press about his personality, i think he's pretty cool.

I agree. His answers and replies to questions seem to be computer generated. He's a great fighter, and im a huge fan of his, but he definitely needs to build up his marketability by losing the bland/robotic personality.

His english is not very good so therefore he is not able to express himself like he does in the spanish interviews.

A good personality helps to connect with the people, no doubt. But sometimes you either got it (a great personality) or you don't.

Looking on the bright side, maybe his bland personality is a blessing in disguise for him. You know people still quote things that Mayweather said two years ago as if they were said yesterday. (I'm just using him as an example.) Fans love to catch boxers contradicting themselves and using their words against them. At least Cotto doesn't say much, so the chances of having something come back and haunt him seem less likely.

I understand promoters are there to promote fights. But it seems like a lot of boxers need managers or something to help them gain exposure. Has Cotto done commercials for Ecko? Basically, there are creative ways to present athletes in a better light even if they're not great speakers. You just need a creative type on your team to help you out, IMO.
