If hatton vs malignaggi only made 200,000 ppv buys in the UK, then why are people saying that he's a bigger draw that pacquio.?

Ok, and if that is the case and ifs its true, Hatton did about 1mil PPV's against Mayweather. This goes to show that Hatton will bring in the large UK PPV revenue only if his opponent are big name and vice versa for Pac. Pac's numbers with Diaz did how many buys, around 2-300,00 if that?

So both of these fighters need each other to bring in the PPV numbers. Obviously the UK fans will want to see this fight as much as Pacs fans out in the Pacific. Plus if marketed right, the U.S. PPV's can reach large numbers as well.

Cotto and Margarito could of done even more numbers IMO if they pushed it out there like they always do with Delahoyas' circus acts. Im talking about commercials, ESPN coverage, the whole kit and caboodle.

Have you seen a reliable independent source for that figure? I've only seen it from a very dubious source (an anonymous so-called "boxing expert" who was trying to denigrate Hatton). I've seen much higher figures quoted, but again not from any reliable independent source.

I was reading the latest issue of Ring mag and mentioned on the Hatton article that the Hatton-Mayweather fight sold 1.5 million PPVs in UK. So he does bring in money. But does the UK PPV included on the purse, meaning Pac will get a share too.

I am a Pac fan and of course will root for him to beat Hatton. But Pac should just ACCEPT the 50 split. His gonna make a lot of money fighting Hatton.

Pac just agree to the split. Your getting big headed again.

              it's from a pacland article.

that's the only source i've seen quote 200k for the malignaggi fight.

all the guys saying 200k buys for hatton-malignaggi is getting it from that pacland article.

i don't know if 200k is right or not. seems respectable enough from a small country of 45 million or so. pac-diaz did about the same amount in the u.s. , a country of 300 million.

the 50-50 includes british ppv. i don't think it includes filipino tv money though which is solely for manny. it's nothing compared to u.k. or u.s. money but that's still a few million dollars that manny has exclusivity on.

that's what i've read from arum's comments anyway. if true......it's a good deal for manny.

u.k. ppv numbers were almost double of the u.s. numbers in the floyd-ricky fight.

the fight only did 800k in the u.s.

also floyd didn't get a share of the u.k. ppv as far as i know.

Small point but the UK population is 60 million.

200k is respectable, but it still seems su****iously low to me, especially given the lack of an impartial and reputable source for the figure, and I think it should be treated with a pinch of salt and not quoted as fact. I have heard that he regularly gets around half a million UK PPVs, although again with no source quoted. What is undeniable is that for the Lazcano fight, who is hardly a big name, he sold out the 22,000 MEN Arena within half an hour of the tickets going on sale, which very few other boxers - or sportsmen in any sport - could do. Only rock stars normally sell like that.

I agree Pac has been disrespectful to Hatton in the negotiations; first, by allowing Arum to negotiate a deal on his behalf, with full authority, and then waiting nearly a month before pulling the plug on an agreement that had already been made; and second by saying ****** and insulting things to the press like: "If I accepted 50/50 I'd be a laughing stock", and: "We won't let these foreigners get one over us". But I don't think that's how he sees it. I don't think he means to be disrespectful at all, although I think he is being. I think he has a chip on his shoulder, because of the way he came out of extreme poverty to achieve what he's achieved, and because of a national psyche that has been formed partly by years of being disrespected by foreigners. I think he thinks of himself as just fighting for the respect he deserves.

Khan vs ***an did something like 200,000. I'm guessing the Mallignaggi fight did around 300,000 - 400,000.
