Remember when it seemed as if Marg-Shane was a done deal, and then suddenly it seemed that it was off because Margarito wanted too much money? And then loads of people were insulting him, calling him a coward, saying that he was just like Mayweather, obsessed with money?

And then the fight got signed, everyone forgot about it and acted as if they had never overreacted so badly to the negotiations?

I'm sure that this kind of thing happens all the time, it's just that in this case the negotiations have become public and everyone is talking about it.

I think that the fight will get made, and then this time next year people will look back and hardly any of them will remember the purse split arguments.

Hatton's fans travel as well as are in the Uk and the mere fact he is fighting menas more or less the whole of the UK will have its eyes on the fight unlike if Pac was fighting someone else who would maybe only generate hometown support.
Its a slap in the face to try that 60/40 **** but Im sure he tried a similar stunt with JMM in order for JMM to get a 3rd fight so Im not that surprised
What an analogy. Its the same as saying Pacman only has fans from the Philippines. The fact that no significant number of Filipinos travel to LV just to see Manny fight, means that majority of Manny's paying fans are non-Filipinos. Compared to RH fans, most of them are Brits. Which means that Manny is way more popular than RH worldwide.

60/40 is not a slap in the face for Ricky. It is the other way around - 50/50 is a slap in the face for Manny. For too long now, Ricky Hatton has been perceived in the UK as a top boxer which he isn't. He only fought a handful of good fighters and when he fought the best he failed quite miserably.

I live in the UK and I didnt buy Sky's RH V Malignaggi and didnt even watched the Lascano live. But I did buy the PPV of RH vs. Floyd for 14.99 GBP. Why? Because he was against the best.

I could see that RH fans are little blinded by his popularity. They are really made to believe that RH is a great boxer, even with that eye-opening defeat to Floyd, they still are with him...most probably because he lives like them.

If Ricky and his Father could just stop being the Egret here, they will realize that Manny indeed deserve a litte more than 50/50 split.

Imagine if Manny can't have his way, with his current status and everything, what does this say to the future P4P Kings aspiring to be one?!!-- Hmmm.. no need to aspire to be the P4PNo1, all i need to do is be as popular as I can be and I will earn more. Is this the the sports is all about right now? At least when Dela Hoya and Mayweather became P4PNo1 and eventually became the cash cows, they had their respective resumes to back their demands for each fight they fought. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for Ricky, his is a manufactured and overhyped product from the UK which only Brits will blindly buy and will continue to do so until he retires or until they find a genuine Boxing icon they could really call a true champion. Philippines has already found theirs.

Yes, all you need to be is popular. I mean look at DLH and Tyson years past their prime.
Look what dlh made past prime against Mayweather and Pac. Look what Tyson made way past prime against Lewis.

So yes it's a popularity contest.
