    Let's See

Great article anyone who has seen De La Hoya since his pro debut knows that wasn't the man on Dec.6th we all have come to know as a fighter. Anyone who understands boxing from amatuer to the pro ranks understands weight is a huge factor in the performance of a fighter.Example amatuer's kill themselves at the last minute to drop a few pounds or ounces to fight at the lower weight class to seemingly expect an advatage what alot of them fail to realize is that in the process the body loses the nutrients it needs for the go. Oscar looked good at the weigh in to casual fans ,but what he did to get there was traumatic on his system. Everybody blames the training camp for overtraining, but Oscar knew the signs the shoulder issue the laboring to run a fair distance etc. Point is this fight should of never happened in the first place ,but cash is cash. Ask yourself what if Pac-Man ballooned up to 160lbs in a matter of weeks he would of had a tire around his waist the total opposite of De La Hoya having little to none muscle mass in this fight. They are grown men you reap what you sow better match making next time Golden Boy.

        Pacquiao was just quicker

I am a big Oscar dlh and pacmand fan and I have literally watched most of oscar's fights except for when he was an amateur of course and i would agree that he fought stronger fighters than the pacman but nobody quicker than the Pacman, in all his fights his opponents just stood in front of him, went forward and sometimes exchanged with him(Vargas, trinidad, mosely, quartey, even mayweather all fights mentioned are available in youtube for review) but the Pacman was the only one that went from side to side and in and out quicker than all the fighters mentioned, his speed was the difference in this fight, but let us not diminish the Pacman's accomplishments. In response to the article the Pacman also had this bad experience with weight in his second fight with marquez he could no longer reach the 130 lbs limit comfortably everybody knew this because he was already set to go up to 135 but still bravely faced marquez in that weight and still won a very slim skin of his teeth win(And yes he deserved it too) but did not make any excuses for the fight. Some people here who want him to go back to 135 would be disappointed because during the diaz fight he was 2 lbs over the 135 lbs limit and had to jog it off before the weighin so it is safe to say that he is not going back to 135, so a fight with timothy bradley and nate campbell is out of the question but both fighter would have about a 35% chance of beating the Pacman but would probaly get knocked out early if they fought the Pacman at 135, so the real test for the Pacman right now is at 140 lbs against ricky hatton and of course i would want to see him against mayweather, but I know that ricky hatton and mayweather has all the advantages in power, chin, skill, and size over the pacman and the only advantage that the Pacman has is heart but sometimes heart is not enough to overcome this advantages but i would not count out the Pacman right away because he always has the proverbial punchers chance, and against both fighters win or lose would support the Pacman all the way.

          U Right?

Yeah there are no excuses tonite ,but like I said cash is cash and Oscar sold his health and potential for fool's gold, but don't be surprised he wins a couple more fights at his weight before the last curtain call. Much luck to Oscar in the near future ,but his defining fight will have to be against Margarito win or lose to cement his legacy as an all-time boxing great not all-time PPV King.

22 million isn't fool's gold brother. It's straight up a ton of money.

And all he had to do was eat deer meat and tofu milkshakes for 3 months and get his ass beat for 30 minutes.

            Not a bad payday.

            Legacy, schmegacy.

Oscar knew what he was doing.

They knowingly gave up weight advantage, because they tried to nuetralize the speed factor anyway they could and then believed that Oscar would simply outbox Pac. This whole notion that Pacquiao is same fighter that fought Morales in 2006 is bull****. Styles make fights, and Pacquiao is a lefty who is ackward as hell. Here's the problem, Oscar doesn't know how to cut off the ring, he follows you like a freaking robot. Roach kept the fight in the middle of the ring, because that's where Pacquiao could use his quickness advantage (in space), and keep turning Oscar. Can't use your jab if he's turning, and once they took jab away, that was that. Everytime Pac got on the ropes, he got in trouble, and Roach told him to get the **** outta there. You think Oscar was slow at 147? Pac's straight left would have been there all night, and he would have kept turning Oscar and be gone and had a nice points decision whether Oscar was 147 or 160lb or not. Pacmans defense has evolved since moving up weight classes and fighting bigger dudes. Bigger dudes have forced him to magnify his style to in and out, side to side, he's very patient, poised, the aggression is controlled and comes out in spurts now. Be interesting to see how his footwork and movement evolves, because Hatton will get him on the ropes. How often and effective he can will determine that fight. But De la Hoya got his ass kicked simple as that. No excuses.

Why don't fans like you simply research De La Hoyas address in PR and all get together and just send him your money? Once every 6-8 months should be ok. You think De La Hoya didnt know what he was getting into ? He been in the boxing business a long time. You even admit that at 35 he shouldnt be that light ...but cmon let him go to the heavier weights 160-165 where he should be ....guaranteed he will get knocked out...he knows it.. just his nuthuggers have a problem accepting it. The same nuthuggers said Trinidad is lazy and Trinidad is lucky he is too heavy...Cmon Trinidad got older and gained weight like the majority of boxers do when the get to"35"...lol Hoya is on opportunist and sometimes overthinking will get your ass beat..like he did.
