If he fights the big fights then why does he make smaller guys move up in his last three fights instead of fighting guys at his "own weight." Calzaghe landed more punches on Jones than any other fighter.
Ignore him. He's just pissed off cause I got his alt account banned.
There's other fights out there, but I agree Dawson is the only one that would get his interest, aside from the Joe C rematch which surely won't happen.
i say it would be a good way for hopkins to once again test his age against another young undefeated champion. but theres also a chance he could lose to dawson the same way he lost to calzaghe and taylor. and thats by being outworked. in these fights it showed that hopkins doesnt do well against fighters with some decent speed and good punch outputs. he'll run into the same problems with dawson.
imo a calzaghe rematch will just be even more sided in the cards for joe then in the first fight. bernard wouldnt wanna ruin a future star in dawson but hey its bernard for all we kno he would face dawson and probably beat him. funny thing is they would make dawson a 2-1 favorite
Hopkins is too old and too accomplished as a fighte to be going around cleaning out the light-heavyweight division against all the top contenders and up and coming title holders.
As far as Tarver, he was The Man at that time, THE light-heavyweight champ and he was 2 years younger then the version that Dawson beat this year.
Stop the nonsense.
But he's not too old or too accomplished to fight a 26 y/ who's two divisions below him?
Don't get me wrong, I give Hopkins tons of credit for his dismantling of Pavlik, but you can't argue that he shouldn't fight Dawson when he's taking fights like Pavlik, or go around proposing (as truthseeker did) that it would be better for him to take 3rd fight with Taylor instead of taking on a younger, undefeated stud in his own division.
I'm not saying he should fight Dawson, but to act like Dawson doesn't deserve it or that Hopkins is too old is just bull****.

Mate, Hopkins is 43, and seriously needs to consider retiring now. Not fighting yet another undefeated proven fighter. If he does fight, it may probably be his last one, and would be pointless fighting Dawson. He would probably like to have the long-overdue rematch from RJJ, but im sure RJJ would probably come up with an excuse

first of all, he doesn't "make" men move up.....they move up b/c its the biggest fight they can get at the time, don't blame hopkins.....and like one poster already said, hopkins was the underdog in all those fights he "made smaller guys move up.."

i've always said hopkins and calzaghe should fight each other, or dawson, or retire. nothing else makes sense for either fighter.

you think a hopkins-calzaghe rematch would be even more "one-sided"?

if hopkins can't get calzaghe again. he should retire. IMO all the old guys (calzaghe, jones, hopkins) need to stay away from dawson......hopkins won't fight roy tho. he's actually keen on taking fights no one gives him a chance to win. after what just happened to roy, i doubt hopkins will have the "motivation" for that fight. had roy beat calzaghe, or even lost a close decision, things might be different.....but roy thoroughly got his ass beat. i don't think too many ppl wanna see roy anywhere near a boxing ring again.

My thoughts exactly. If Hopkins can get Calzaghe, then that's the fight he should end his career with. But I don't think he would get a decision in Calzaghe's backyard, but that would be his best option.
Hopkins-Jones 2 will NEVER happen. I think after the spanking Roy took from Joe, Hopkins feels sorry for Roy and even after the failed attempts at a rematch, he doesn't want to humiliate Roy. Being a RJJr fan for so long, it's hard to say that but that's exactly what would happen.
