Manny Steward said Naseem Hamed was the best FW of AT

Manny Steward said Naseem Hamed was the best FW of AT, and then said well not yet, because he has to prove it, but he will be.

I saw a replay of Naseem doc " little prince big fight" earlier on ESPN Classic. Ive seen it before, but i never realised Steward said he was the best of "FW ALL TIME" or will be

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and i respect Steward as a trainer, but daamn!! that was one bold prediction, and possibly even ******.

I always like Hamed. He could punch and was almost always entertaining. But to call him the best? No way. Manny also said he was the p4p hardest puncher he had ever worked with, including Hearns. I have heard (cannot confirm) that Hamed had sparred and put cruiserweights to sleep. If true, that is an impressive display of power.

I like Naz too, but daamn that was a bold thing to say. I agree, Naz for me is without a doubt the hardest hitting FW ever.

Im not sure about the last part, im not saying its not true though.

Naz could hit, no doubt about it. But how do you go about comparing him to other murderous punchers at featherweight, like Saddler and Arguello?

I dont think Arguello hit as hard as Naseem. Although Arguello too was a brutal puncher, but i think the difference between Hamed's power and Arguello's power is Hamed was a naturally raw/brutal hitter. Ive always felt Arguello's accuracy and precision was a huge factor in his ability to take a man out.

Arguello did have the ability to take you out in the 15 th or the 1st though. Ive must say ive never seen a right hand as accurate and precise as Arguello's.

with his chin and power naz had something special, plus he was a natural entertainer and not afraid to take risks. he could have no doubt gone on to become a modern ATG, but he never loved boxing like other fighters do (hopkins, benn, etc), he didn't love the training or dieting. guy could have been something special.
