A few weeks ago it was Pavlik "on the prowl" and everyone was "screaming for him to fight" Pavlik.

A couple years ago it was Lacy.

    Gets tedious after a while.

Putting Pavlik and Lacy in the same sentence with Dawson is crazy IMO..It SHOULD HAVE BEEN pretty obvious that Lacy and Pavlik were both brawling club fighters and once they faced a crafy boxer that would end the hype..Lacy fought other brawlers up to that point and that was his first test which he failed miserably..Pavlik beat brawlers and Jermain was murdering him when he was boxing until he tried brawling with the brawler..Dawson passed the test to face Calzaghe IMO when he fought Glen which is probably the toughest pressure fighter in that division..He handled that beautifully with the exception of a couple rounds which he was hurt, but gathered himself and got back to boxing, a Dawson fight would make more sense then a Pavlik fight if Pavlik happened to beat Bernard SKILL WISE..And lacy...NO

I think Hopkins is going to be a bit like a James Toney- a guy who can fight long after he should've hung it open but, due to his amazing technical skill and craft, can fight on without serious danger of being knocked out looming. Hopkins can fight any young buck he wants- like Dawson- and know if he gets beat he'll collect a nice purse with his ass whooping and be able to ride the 'well, I'm just too old now' wave. I mean, really, if Hopkins lost to the young, undefeated Dawson it wouldn't damage his legacy in the least. People would just call for him to hang it up. Dawson, however, would look awful to lose to such an aged fighter- despite Hopkins' recent performance.

Granted, I think Bernard can dominated a middleweight easier than he can a light heavyweight. It wouldn't be the same type of schooling he put on Pavlik- I'm positive about that. I'd pick Dawson here.

I would be so much more impressed if I had seen such stunning insights into the relative skills of Lacy and Pavlik before their Calzaghe and B-Hop fights respectively, rather than after them. As has already been pointed out, though, we never did. The simple truth is that it was no more obvious in those cases than it is in Dawson's; until the fight(s) happen we just don't know. I don't understand why people can't be honest about that. Whether you think Calzaghe is ducking Dawson or not (and, again, I'd remind those claiming that that Dawson only became a serious contender for a fight with JC all of two months ago) we have no idea if Dawson can beat him - or B-Hop, or not. I've seen nothing in Dawson that suggests he would be anything but the underdog against either no matter how young or hungry he might be BUT Dawson simply hasn't been tested at that level yet, except possibly in the fight against Johnson; which was such a close call it doesn't reveal much either way.

What the point of another Tarver fight is, I don't know. Johnson I could understand.

Why is HBO setting up a fight for Dawson when Dawson is obviously waiting for Calzaghe to make an announcement? This "unknown" opponent is probably Tavoris Cloud or Glen Johnson.

F u c k e n great post!!! IF CALZAGHE WAS AMERICAN HE WOULD BE RIGHT UP THERE WITH MARCIANO!!!!
