    i don't know all i know is it's a HOOK thrown as a COUNTERPUNCH......it's a COUNTERHOOK.
Steward mentioned it first during the KO. Then Floyd did. They did not collaborate to make up the term.

Steward mentioned it from the Michigan amateurs. Put down the hate bottle.

50/50 is fair because this fight would be huge...but with out Mayweather with all due respect to Manny...it wont get the attention...no one pulls them like Mayweather.
Manny is P4P and probably deserves more but thats showbiz!...

Pacman gets the higher portion of the purse.

        Its only fair...

        for a few reasons:

        A) he is the p4p champ of the world
        B) floyd hasnt found since the end of 07 against hatton which means he hasnt shown much lately to prove he deserves a higher portion of pay
        C) The fight is more important to floyd to recapture his top p4p status and crazy as it sounds floyd needs to fight pac more than pac needs to fight floyd...

challengers for a title (ring, p4p or ABC titles) shouldnt get priority in pay...

just like when floyd was the top of the p4p list and pacman was second...i'd say floyd gets the bigger portion because in that situation pac would need floyd more than floyd needed pac.

        plain and simple...

i think it should be CLOSE to even but with the edge to pac...55-45 sounds fair to me.

I dont understand why some people keep saying Mayweather needs the fight and pacman doesnt.....Mayweather is retired he doesnt need the fight unless his broke, Now pacman does/doesnt need the fight depending on how you look at it.

For me if Mayweather come out of retirement for this fight then it would confirm to me that he did indeed ducked the next challengers at 147.

How much do u guys think that Pacquiao will draw right now against someone not named Floyd or Hatton, right fresh off of Pacs win vs Hoya?

It's all about the Numbers. What are the last couple of fights tallied number.

I think Pac fighting Hatton would give us a better understanding.

I would even say Floyd will be bigger NOW than ever before.

it's older than when steward and floyd mentioned it.

hate bottle? my hate is towards people using the term and sometimes incorrectly.

it's a hook. sometimes i just think people on these boards say check hook to sound cool. after people heard the term they've been using it a lot. how many times have you seen people mention a floyd fight and talking about how he'd catch someone with a check hook? or how hatton would get ktfo by his next opponent by a check hook?

ali called the cross he decked liston with in the phantom punch incident an "ANCHOR PUNCH". every cross thrown as a counter is an "ANCHOR PUNCH" now?

from now on i'm gonna call tua's hook a "pineapple hook".

arreola was lucky the tua fight didn't go through. he's too sloppy and when he throws his loopy right , tua would catch him with his "PINEAPPLE HOOK".

I hear you, but at the end of the day, it's about popularity, numbers; HYPE.

Tyson was making more than everybody when he came out of jail. The Hype was amazing.

I'm thinking in terms of a Hatton fight beforehand. If Pac fights Ricky at 140 and wins a title, wouldn't you rather see Mayweather fight him at 140 for the JWW title than for no title at all?
First: pac weighed in at 147 when he fought last at 135 division. Most fighters at 140 tend to rehydrate to 149 by fight time.

Personally, I would like to see a healthy fighter show up and not another fight with a weight-drained fighter...how about you?

Floyd tends to show up around 149 for his fights. Pac at 147 for his 135 fight is close. I'm not sure what Pac will fight at by fight time for his 140 pound fights...but it will be at least 147.

Titles: Titles are nothing important; it's the fighters. If you need titles, you have the P4P title to promote. If you need more, Floyd was the lineal Champion at 147 when they left; I'm sure they could promote that. Tszyu was out for years and was still counted as the lineal Champion. Floyd would be out for close to 2 years by fight day with Pac. He retired, true, but nobody really cares at the end of the day.

P4P title is the most important thing to Promote.

Floyd could fight the winner between Pac vs. Hatton for the 140 lineal title, but at the end of the day, what does it really mean to Floyd?
He beat the lineal Champion in Hatton a year ago...and, he has better belts; 147 and 154.
