Did the lightweight division go into hibernation?

I haven't heard a peep about anything happening at LW in the near future. No Campbell, Diaz, Marquez, Valero, Katsidis or even Casamayor talk. Anyone know something I don't here? It's awesome that there are so many amazing potential fights that are close to being made for 09' and I'm really hoping to see the LW's come out full throttle next year too just like early March of this year.

Campbell is going to fight Funeka in February, JMM was in discussions to fight Carlos Hernandez, don't know what happened to that fight, and there are talks of Katsidis vs Jesus Chavez or Chavez vs Casamayor, Valero is supposed to fight Pitalua for the WBC title if Pacquiao doesn't go back to the division.

Campbell will probably fight Barrera sometime next year.

Silencers, I can always count on you brosef. I'd like to see Marquez-Campbell but I know GBP will keep it in house and probably put together Diaz-Marquez before that which will be okay only if the winner gets Campbell. I don't see Pacquiao coming back to 135 at all. He did his 1 day tour there.

          No problem.

Marquez-Campbell is the most significant fight that can be made at 135 right now but as you said, GBP would like to keep it in the family so unless Campbell signs with GBP, I doubt he'd get to fight Marquez. Juan Diaz' status has been weirdly silent lately, there's been almost nothing about him since his win over Katsidis. If the money is right, I think Pacquiao will move back down but he probably won't be there for a while.

Yeah I am kinda shocked that Juan Diaz has seemingly fallen under the radar. I'd like to see him get a shot at avenging his loss to Campbell. I still think Diaz can win the rematch but he really can't afford to sit in trade. I think he needs to box more which he is capable of. Isn't Campbell looking for a promotor right now? I wonder if GBP would even want to sign him after he trashed Schaefer.

I agree, I think Diaz can win a rematch between him and Campbell but he has to remain active. Campbell is a free agent now from what I know, Terry Trekas will know more about this obviously, I haven't seen him around for a while though and yeah, that trash talking to GBP does not help him now.

JMM/Campbell is the only good fight at 135.... why is JMM ducking campbell?

I think there are a couple of good fights to be made at 135 and I don't believe Marquez is ducking Campbell. Honestly, promoters **** a lot of things up for their fighters. I think Campbell slamming GBP probably is making them reluctant to throw Campbell a bone by matching him up with Marquez. I don't like it when fighters duck anyone, but I absolutely despise when promoters are the ones behind a fight not happening.
