Joe dont want the fight and you cant make someone fight. There is nothing Dawson can do.

You really think if Joe thought Dawson would be a cake walk he wouldnt agree to this fight with the upside being a retirement party with 0 losses, beating everyone at or around 168-175 including the young lion no big name wants to fight and holding all the belts at 175? There is a reason he wants nothing to do with Dawson, he knows this kid is the real deal. And thats ok but don't act like it aint reality. Dawson is officially the most feared man in boxing. No big name wants anything to do with him.

Find some way to boost his marketability, he needs to bring more money to the table but these things don't happen overnight, I doubt he can do anything at this point, if Calzaghe fights him, Calzaghe would be doing him a favor.

He needed to be born 4 years ago.

Calzaghe is 37 and wants to retire, who can blame him with the Habit of people throwing ever more names at fighters at the end of their career.

Calzaghe is nothing but if he beats Lacy i'll say he's good... He wins

Lacy is ****, but if he beats Kessler i'll say he's good... He wins

Kessler is a Eurobum but if he beats Hopkins then i'll say he's good.. He wins

Hopkins is old but if he beats Jones then i'll say he's good... He wins

Jones was shot but if he beats Dawson i'll say he's good...
          Broken record, get a grip.

Wow... I have to say... that was a solid as **** response.

Don't forget the comparison between Adamek and Kessler... undefeated, protected Eurobums.

Clearly neither are true, but I've heard that label applied to both.

If only Dawson had a Lacy on his resume... That would be epic.

Thread starter: Nothing. Calzaghe wants to retire. I don't blame him. Dawson actually hasn't really done enough to be the last guy before retirement... he's one of a few who could have a legit case that they are the guy Calzaghe should fight if he is going to fight again.

Dawson is just another overrated Yank
you trippin' man, Glen Johnson beat Roy Jones Jr far far worse than Joe did recently and did it YEARS ago, he's beaten Tarver and MANY MANY solid opponents, he has a hard to hit style which Joe Calzaghe himself would have trouble with. he's another Emmanuel Augustus in that sense where the losses have stories behind them, he wasn't just brutally beat he just fought a fight, time ran out and the points added up to the other guys favor but Glen Johnson is a rough, tough fight for ANYBODY right now even to the man who gave him his 1st loss at Middleweight.

by saying Glen "12 losses" Johnson you don't insult Johnson you insult your overall intelligence for Boxing because any TRUE Boxing fan should know that loss counts can deceive you, Margarito has 5 losses but your average viewer of this great sport wouldn't know that 3 of them came in his first 12 fights due to inexperience as a kid who was fighting much older and experienced guys. he then doesn't lose again until the Santos loss which to MOST that fight was horse **** and then to Williams whom even though he didn't win he still left the impression he CAN beat Paul if he adjusted his game plan.. all understandable losses but you wouldn't know that would you? you see "5" under his loss column and he's a bum right? same with Johnson, it doesn't matter how good he does and how difficult of fights he gives opponents as long as it says "12" under his loss column he's a bum right? choose another sport yo this one ain't for you..

There'll always be a young contender for Calzaghe to fight. After Dawson it'd be the likes of Froch, Bute or even, god forbid, Taylor. Or probably Kessler again.

A line has to be drawn at some point and unless Dawson can make it worth Calzaghe's while I suspect the line is going to be drawn right about now.

Johnson did lose to some less than stellar opposition though and not at the start of his career.

It'd be a fun fight with Calzaghe though and it's a damn shame it never happened. I don't ever see Glencoffe winning it as he's tailor made for Calzaghe, but it'd be a bloody good scrap.

Johnson also has been on the wrong end of a ton of ****ty decisions.

Either way, 12 losses or not, he is a better fighter now than he was back when he was losing (and those losses shouldn't be losses in more than a few of those bouts).
