Ricky Hatton,he came to the US earlier, and he fought the #1 p4p fighter in one of the biggest fights in recent history

Joe Calzaghes best wins have been against a 43 year old Hopkins which i thought Hopkins won,and against a 39 year old Roy Jones, who clearly isnt nowhere what he used to be and now Joe wants to retire

I respect Ricky a lot more. He was willing to risk his "0" by coming over here and fighting a string of 3 guys to earn a shot at Floyd Mayweather, and throughout it all he showed nothing but respect and humility.

Joe on the other hand, not so much.

Hopkins is p4p better than everybody Ricky has faced, so where is the point? This exclude MAyweather, but c'mon Ricky was outclassed and stopped by a guy who couldn't hurt Zab "Super-Chin" Judah. He earned 20M pounds for this fight. Joe would fight Wladimir Klitschko for this money.
I think the most ignorant AMericans will like Ricky because he is a down-to-earth guy and an average talent. He is easy to hit and easy to beat. Calzaghe is still undefeated and the Yank-assassin!

P.S. MAyweather fans should stop acting like Ricky is something special, only to make FLoyd's win look better. I'm pretty sure Floyd will come back if he gets a chance to fight Ricky. Because MAyweather has no balls to fight real contenders. Thats the think which seperates him from real legends like Ali, Duran or Leonard.
nah, calz isn't all that better than hatton.... but hatton is more respectable because he's will to take risks.

I would say Hatton. Calzaghe has made a career on the backs of UK bums, 1 decent fighter (Lacy), and 2 old men (u know who). At least Hatton has fought decent opposition.
So you know what your talking about to have reached that conclusion? Funny how Calzaghe has beaten more Americans than any other nationality. How's that leave your "he only picks on UK bums" theory, a little ignorant and ill informed.

I respect both of them in different ways. Hatton for his warrior esk mentality, his lapse attitude but dedication when it counts (usually), and him coming through the loss.

But a lot of these things are personal, which I notice is the case from others too, and that's because Hattons decided reveal more of himself to the public then Calzaghe has. Hatton does seem more likeable in an immediate sense but of course, he's a different and more funny, extroverted personality, so it's natural.

I respect Calzaghe more for one because he's a more talented fighter I enjoy watching. Also all in all because he's come through his own amount of strife such as being told he couldn't box with his hand injuries but carrying on sometimes with one hand, often getting injured. For getting robbed of not going to the olympics which woulda brought on a lot of lime light he otherwise had to fight longterm for. For battling through unfortunate circumstances like these, missing out on a fight with Hopkins in 2002 because of Hops, and finding motivation to dominate most of whom was put in front of him fighting longer then planned, to get the respect he deserved.

A lot of people are ignorant to things like this, and when they hear them less willing to accept them and factor them in as favourably as that with Hatton.

I do respect both though, a lot.

yeah, calz may have more talent but its not evident if he's just fighting shot fighters and senior citizens. calz would've gotten way more credit when hops and rjj were prime.

i respect Hatton more, because i favor him over the two.
I do give calzaghe respect though for what he's done. I've followed Hatton longer than calzaghe, and i prfer two watch a bout at the welterweight division.

If there's talk about Pacquiao vs. Hatton, i would rather discuss it after Pacquiao does what he has to do on the 6th.

Calzaghe gets mad props and so does Hatton because they are not delusional after a fight. They say the truth. For now Calzaghe if he doesn't clean out his division its a definate Hatton.
