A win over Kessler in any fashion is impressive, IMO.

As many have stated on here, Joe was able to adapt to Mikkel's style and beat him in the 2nd half of the fight. He did hurt Kess to the body, but I don't think it would have been the end of the fight if the ref had not intervened. Joes win was not perfect, but was a good performance against a very good fighter. Personally, i rank it 3rd in Joe's career behind the Eubank and Lacy fights since it was a good gauge to rate Joe's acual ability.

This being said, if Joe gets caught by the same uppercuts from Jones, he would have went down and been very hurt. A solidly landed uppercut from a real 175 pounder is a whole different story. Not to mention how fast the punch would have been if delivered by Jones.

For the first 3 rounds it was competitive and Calzaghe was fighting evens with Kessler and getting tagged often, but from round 4 onwards it was all Calzaghe. It was a very impressive performance especially as I picked Kessler to beat Joe.

Round 4 was the uppercut bombardment from Kessler.

it was damn good win imo. he broke kesslers will after the first few rds, and dominated him pretty well imo.

IIRC, the reason why the ref jumped in was because Joe landed a shot behind Kessler's head. Kessler was hurt, no doubt. Whether or not Joe would have got him out of there without referee intervention is debatable, but Kessler was in trouble for a short while.

It's an impressive fight, in my opinion. Both produced some great work, there wasn't a great deal of clinching, it was pretty high-class boxing.

I had it 8 rounds to Joe and 4 rounds to Mikkel, I think.

                It was completely different though.

                Calzaghe-Lacy = Hopkins-Pavlik.

The class of opponent in the Kessler fight was leagues above Jeff Lacy, hence why Joe wasn't able to dominate him like he could Lacy.

                Calzaghe-Kessler = competitive.

                Calzaghe-Lacy = a brutal, one-sided beating/embarrassment.

                  Calzaghe? Kessler? Yuck!!!

Somebody get Kessler a large tin scrubbin utensil so he can get that ******ed tattoo sleeve off his arm.
