Both Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr ducked rematches against Hopkins

True or False? Prime vs Prime, I say Hopkins beats Roys ass, because him sticking his head out and baiting Hopkins would be a no no. Roy was known for his reflexes, I was never impressed by Roys defense in his prime compared to Hopkins and even fighters not as good as Hopkins in the defense department.

Hopkins didn't deserve more money then Roy back then.

I wouldn't say they ducked him, the Jones fiasco was all to do with ego. Neither would accept a 50-50 split, and didn't want to be getting any less than 51%. Calzaghe beat him recently and wants to retire now, so I wouldn't say he is ducking him either.

False... I was actually on btalk.com in january of last year, and that was the last time roy and bernard discussed a rematch...

bernard came on and did an interview and told greg leon how he would be excited for a roy rematch and that he respected him and would be willing to do a 50/50 fight with roy.

well since roy reads btalk often, he quickly called greg and was excited about what bernard said and that a 50/50 fight would be great...

he told greg to tell bernard to send over a contract and they could get it done..

a day later roy called back and said.. well i got the contract... u wanna know what it says.?

after Golden Boy takes 25%, then Roy and Bernard will split the rest.... Roy was pissed because in no way shape or form is that a 50/50 split...

thats when roy got pissed off and kept saying bernard doesnt wanna fight me...

then roy offered bernard... 60/40 winner takes 60... and bernard never responded back.

I still think prime Roy would have beaten BHop in a rematch.

I don't know if you could say Roy ducked him. Roy wanted a larger slice of the revenue as he felt he had more draw. In the end their egos got in the way of the fight.

As for the other issue, Bernard just beat Kelly a few days ago and Joe has a fight in a couple of weeks and already we start with the "Joe ducking a rematch with Bernard" ****. Wtf is that?

              What's Jones' prime?

              What's Hopkins' prime?

And what exactly didn't impress you about Jones' defense? The fact that he didn't get hit?

              Just wondering.

I'm more of a Hop fan than a Jones fan, but I agree. I think Hopkins would be competative and would pose problems to Roy, but Roy was to fast and athletic. That's how you beat Bernard.

Everyone knows Hopkins was better later in his career. He didn't hit his prime until he was a bit older. Kind of similar to Calzaghe in some ways, Calzaghe was good and so was Hopkins when they were younger but I'd say they hit there peaks later in there years. Basically, both Calzaghe and Hopkins improved the older they got. Roy on the other hands, has went down hill and his reflexes slowed down dramatically.
