Joe Calzaghe Sounds Off on Roy Jones, Hopkins, Pavlik

Joe did the exact same thing as De La Hoya choosing Pacquiao over Margarito in choosing Jones over Pavlik. He went for the money rather than the fight boxing fans wanted to see for the reason of competitiveness. Notice I compared him to an American so it would be void to charge me nationalistic bias.

Now if Margarito loses to Clottey or Williams, is it justified for Oscar to say, "I told you all! Margarito is a bum and this proves it!!"

Nothing like kicking a guy that you wanted none of when he's down.

I thik Joe is talented and if he beats Roy and really does retire he's got the upper hand on everything he's said... your a douche!! and calzaghe is a euro ***** and fought at a weight class for 15 years where there were no other real opponents , Lacy and Kessler are both jokes, and he didnt even beat hopkins and bhop didnt fight nearly as hard against him as he did against pavlik. joe should shut his mouth and fight. his resume is **** , and roy jones who isnt a top 5 light heavy weight will knock his ass out! whooop

Just because Hopkins beat Pavlik does NOT mean Calzaghe would. Hopkins has destroyed fighters (Pavlik, Tarver) who have beaten fighters who have beaten Hopkins (Taylor I & II, Roy Jones Jr). It doesn't mean that because Hopkins beat him that Calzaghe can. Tarver beat Jones twice yet Hopkins dominated Tarver. Pavlik beat Taylor twice yet Hopkins dominated Pavlik. The one thing these fighters have in common though is that they fought eachother and didnt talk about it (Calzaghe). Dont talk about it.. be about it. Just because you beat a fighter doesnt mean you can beat everybody he beat. The only way to prove that is in the ring. Thats why you (Calzaghe) are not a legend. You look for validation of your own accomplishments from what somebody else does instead of fighting them all. When you retire you cant say you "fought them all" like a legend does.

I really think Calzaghe has been frustrated over all the talk about him fighting Pavlik. I'd say Hopkins win with speed, imagine Calzaghe who is like 100 times faster, would've been a great fight, one more of those Lacy, Kessler fights.

I think that what he says is correct. I really see Roy Jones Jr. be eliminated by the best Joe Calzaghe we've ever seen.

calzaghe may be faster (not 100 X tho), but nard hits harder. pavlik couldn't land clean on nard, he'd hit joe a few times tho........

What pisses me off about calz is that he keeps talking about pavlik never facing anyone good when he beat taylor twice. I think you put taylor and calz in the ring together and taylor would dominate him both physically and skills wise.

i wouldn't say dominate.....but i think taylor can beat him.....i've been calling for that fight, problem is, no reason for joe to take it............

When Hopkins threw back, he was acually faster than Joe, so hold that stuff back newbie. The Jones fight will show you how just above average hand speed Calzaghe has. Joe already displayed his best fight with Lacy. That will never happen to the likes of Jones, trust in that.

that's a likely scenario......calz is talkin a lotta **** about not wanting to fight hopkins again, but if he loses to rjj, watch all that **** change, especially if hopkins then BEATS rjj.............i can't remember the last time i actually anticipated roy beating the **** outta somebody, but i can't wait till november 8........that may be the last we hear from joe.......

I bet you didnt think lacy was a joke before he fought joe.Face it.pavlik got schooled just like lacy,and whether you like it or not,joe is a world class fighter.b-hop is a world class fighter.pavlik could be a world class fighter as long as he doesnt let this beating get to him like it did to lacy.also, b-hop didnt fight that well against joe because joe wouldnt let him! joe wasnt a novice like pavlik.I dont agree with 90% of the stuff that comes out of b-hops mouth,but one thing i do believe is right is that a lot of fighters arent the same after fighting him.pavliks victories over taylor bear that out.this hate for european(especially british) fighters is getting old.just bear in mind that our population is a fraction of your own,and there is hardly any cash at grass roots level,so i think we do pretty well with what we have got.peace

hopkins knocked joe down..........and basically should've won the fight b/c he landed the bigger, cleaner punches.

as hopkins stated, he was hitting joe in the face, and joe was throwing those...( i still dont know how to describe those punches), and hitting hopkins on the arms, shoulder, knees, and toes!!! like hopkins also said, some people like that style of fighting, and it gives the impression you're doing something when you're really not........

yea, he got winded, but hopkins did, make joe look amateurish.....that's why most ppl still dont give joe credit after "winning" that fight.....i'd hate to say it, but taylor was more impressive in his fights w/ nard that joe was in that one............
