All fighter fight for money Margarito included, When rito wanted the money fights he called out Mayweather because he knows he would get paid and win or lose he would get his name out there.

But rito didnt bring anything to the table apart from the WBO belt but that didnt stop people from accusing everyone of ducking him because he was "Dangerous"...Not because he doesnt bring much to the table.

The facts are when you're at the top then you would chose your fights carefully just like Margarito is doing NOW and just like the Mayweathers ...oscars...were doing in the past NO boxer is different when they get to the top.

The Margarito that would fight anyone was the margarito that didnt have any exposure/didnt bring much to the table, But the Margarito that we have now is a different Margarito who has to chose carefully before he choose his next victim.

Seems like the loser should be the on hunting the rematch..not the winner.

Paul wants to prove he's the man at 147...Nothing wrong with that.

Here are some snippets fromt he article from this very website, the one that actually has a copy of the petition sent to Varcarcel.....

"After Williams lifted the WBO title from Margarito last July, Diaz sent a petition letter to the WBO to place Margarito as the mandatory challenger, trying to position his fighter for an immediate rematch (letter provided to BoxingScene). The rematch never came off. Diaz states that Williams and his promoter, Dan Goossen, were not interested in an immediate rematch and instead opted for an optional defense."

"After the Margarito/Williams' bout, Antonio asked that we send the WBO a letter asking to be named as the mandatory challenger which would result in an immediate rematch. This letter was sent to the WBO and put in the agenda during the WBO convention" Diaz said. "During this time, During this time, with the lobbying and persistant outcry of Mr. Goossen, the WBO decided that Margarito would become Williams' mandatory, but Williams would be allowed to make an optional defense."

"Top Rank put the Williams' defeat behind them, moved forward and fought Margarito in November while Williams rested and waited for his next date (February 08). Margarito fought and defeated [Golden] Johnson, while Williams waited. Williams finally got his date, but no opponent. After weeks of waiting Williams finally had his opponent. During this time, again Top Rank looking for the interest of their fighter they decided to move forward with Antonio and look for other options instead of waiting. Williams was Top Rank's number-one option since Margarito was his mandatory, but fights with [Kermit] Cintron, [Zab] Judah, as well as Cotto were being tossed around. Judah turned the fight down, Cotto was a strong possibility, but Cintron made the most sense for Top Rank. You put this bout and the Cotto bout together, then you match the winners - which is what eventually happened. But putting the Cintron bout together was not as easy as everyone thought. That bout was not given a green light until a week after the Williams loss to [Carlos] Quintana. Goossen was pressuring the WBO and the WBO was pressuring us to make a decision as to which way we would go. The Cintron bout was given the green light and obviously that was route we were taking since it included a Cotto fight if Antonio came out victorious. A few weeks ago, Williams held a media lunch in California and called for a Margarito rematch. In the opinion of Diaz, since Williams was not interested in a rematch with Margarito (until he beat Cotto),*he can wait in line while Margarito makes his play. Antonio went after Williams - Williams and his promoter decided to avoid another fight with Antonio and instead fight Carlos Quintana. Antonio reigned as a world champion for five years, with eight-defenses. Paul reigned for six months and lost his title in his first defense and Oscar says Antonio is being disrespectful to Williams? Tony became a two-time world champion when he defeated Cintron. Vacated his belt to fight Cotto, defeated Cotto who at the time was considered by everyone to be the best welterweight in the world and became a three-time world champion and Oscar says Antonio is being disrespectful to Williams? Mr. Goossen flies Williams to LA, invites media to lunch and begins to call out Antonio because Paul just beat the fighter who gave him a beating back in February. If anything, Mr. Goossen and Paul should be thanking Top Rank and Antonio for taking the Cintron bout. It left the door open to rematch Quintana. They weren't saying we were making the wrong decision back in February. There weren't calling Antonio out after he defeated Cintron. They had their own agenda and it did not include Antonio. Now that Antonio beat Cotto and Paul regained the title he should of never lost to begin with, Mr. Goossen and Paul are making their demands. Paul needs to pressure his promoter to keep him busy. "

Margarito has the right to petition himself for mandatory fight with after losing the belt while williams also has the right to go after an optional defence of the belt.

Of course Mayweather ducked Margarito, Marg was champ at the time and he even confronted mayweather in the arena and Floyd said yes, but guess what the fight never happened because of Floyd. 2 factors come in to play money and the danger factor. Margarito was a huge danger factor to Floyd because of his size and punch volume and chin. Marg didn't bring anything to the table except for the belt and 8 million dollars to fight him. Which FLoyd took the same 8 million to fight Baldomir instead of Marg. Why didn't Floyd fight Marg instead chose to fight Baldomir, because he knew Marg was a much more established and dangerous opponent for him then Baldomir. Fact it Floyd ducked him and theres no other way around it. Enough of Floyd.

Yes everyone fights for money when there on the top, but they also find a way to fight the best available to them and the best available opponent for Marg is Paul Williams. You seriously think hes gonna make tons of money fighting anyone else beside Paul? Who can he fight right now that would bring him more money. Oscar is busy fighting and his second biggest money fight is Paul Williams, not Clottey. Beside we don't even know if Oscar is willing to fight Margarito, so hes probably just wasting his time sitting there waiting for the Hoya fight which will most likely not happen.

When was Margarito the champ??? Last time i checked Judah was the champ(Ring/3 belts) then baldomir became the champ, I dont recall Margarito being anything apart from a beltholder, My whole point is if you agree that Mayweather ducked Margarito then you cant tell me Margarito isnt ducking Williams.

You pointed to an $8 million offer to mayweather, but didnt margarito got offered $4million dollars to take a fight with williams as well.

I told someone before, I am fan of all fighters, and the only thing that matters is that this fight should happen. You want me to say it? Fine Margarito is ducking Paul Williams, I was only saying he wasn't because of the Margarito fanatics. I like Marg too but I know he doesn't want to fight Paul Williams. This should be a unification bout and they should both be the best fights for each other right now since there both fighting nobody. Money to me doesn't really matter, Im not the one getting a cent of anything they make, and I don't know why it should matter to you either. Fighters should fight the best and thats how it should always be. When you fight the best, the money usually come with it.

Dude I understand, I don't know what made you think this but you don't have to tell me. If I was in Mayweather's shoes, I would do the same thing, just like 99.9% of the people in here. All I said in this thread is that Mayweather was flexing on how great he is and stuff unlike Margs who only said he was the best Welterweight after the Cotto fight.

No am not one to accuse boxers of ducking unless its plain and obvious a boxer was avoiding a certain challenge for certain reasons.

I also want to see the best against the best thats why you would never see me post how Mayweather duck margarito or how margarito duck williams, All i know is when you're at the top then it becomes more difficult to pick the right fights without people accusing you of ducking someone, Calzaghe was accuse of ducking pavlik because pavlik was suppose to be this dangerous beast, Mayweather was supposely ducking Margarito because rito was this dangerous beast when in fact its all about money to every one of them.

Margarito has to work hard to get to the top and he has to chose carefully before he takes is next one and thats what happen when you're at the top not because you;re scared of another boxer.
