Did Hopkins just supplant Mayweather, Jr as "best of his era"?

Last night's win was a big one for B-Hop. The way BH bitched his way through the second 1/2 of the Calzaghe fight had taken some lustre off his career.

Now, he has probably established himself as "best of his era" in the eyes of many boxing observers.

    What are your thoughts?

It's a great win, no doubt, and cements his legacy perfectly.

But I still put him below Floyd and probably RJJ in terms of his greatness for this era. Floyd because I don't think anyone of his era and around his weight classes could beat him. And RJJ for the sheer dominance he had in the '90s, including the win over Hopkins himself.

    Mayweather
    RJJ
    Hopkins

But it's close. You could argue for anyone on of this credibly.

I think B-Hop is the best fighter of his era! but a victory by Roy on Nov. 8 would make me re-think this, but as of now.....its' Hopkins, Jones, and Money in that order.

Mayweather wasnt the greatest of this era anyhow...

Hopkins was better, RJJ was better, Pacquiao was better. I mean mayweather may have been better then all 3, but he didnt COME CLOSE to proving it. HE avoided the best fighter in every weight class he visited, and called himself the weltherweight king without ever having fought a welterweight...

I can't compare bernard and roy. I like both of them too much to put one over the other...lol

I think I would put Nard over floyd currently though. although its close...
