Looks like Marquez is completely ducking Campbell

Its amazing how bad Marquez is ducking Campbell. Trying to get a fight with Diaz, which is an excellent fight but he was clearly beaten by Campbell. Campbell has almost all of the belts. Marquez has the imaginary ring ****zine belt, where he got it from someone who soundve never had it in the first place.

But if Juan Manual is interested in fighting me, I'm all for it. My position all along has been that I have an IBF mandatory (#1 ranked Ali Funeka) to take care of, but I'm sure for a fight of this magnitude something could be worked out with the Funeka kid and the IBF for him to step aside for one fight to allow me and Marquez to get it on. Some folks think I'm the best lightweight in the world, and some folks think that honor belongs to Marquez. Well no matter which way you have it, me and him are #1 and #2 in the division, and a fight between us clears it up once and for all as to who is the baddest man at 135. I'm ready to roll right now. Marquez just went 11 rounds, but he didn’t get seriously dinged up or anything so why not make this the co-feature to Oscar-Pacquiao on Dec 6th? He should be able to go again in two (with) and a half months no problem. The cynical side of me says no way this happens, that the in-house fight between Marquez and Diaz will get made instead. But I still wanted to put this statement out to let everyone know that I'm ready, willing, and more than able to send Marquez back down to 130, if the powers that be will just get out of the way and let it happen."
cmon Marquez. instead of fighting early 2009, why not do that? fight the real #1 fighter at Lightweight on the Pacquiao-De La Hoya undercard?

it amazes me how people can make huge deals out of things like 'Calzaghe ducking Pavlik' or 'Taylor ducking Froch' when something like this is clearly 10 times worse. These two are in the SAME division to begin with...Nate Campbell has THREE title belts...Diaz has NONE...Diaz just lost to Campbell...fighting on the De La Hoya undercard and becomign the undisputed Lightweight champ would be more beneficial for Marquez's career than him fighting Diaz on a seperate card.

maybe its not Marquez, but Richard Schafer/Golden Boy fear the hell out of Nate Campbell.

I agree. Those guys should fight. I still think Diaz definitely deserves a shot though but maybe after they fight.

i can understand what you're saying but i have no complaints with a JMM-Bay Bull scrap...

i dont know about Marquez 'ducking' but im sure its easier to make a fight between two GBP fighter than dealing with King

Campbell is not signed with King anymore. no excuse.

honestly, I would love a Diaz-Marquez fight. but not now. I want Campbell-Marquez on the Pac-De La Hoya undercard. how could you not want that fight to happen?

i must admit. I as a fan just arent interested in that fight. Diaz/Marquez excites me more. It's weird because I know it would be a really good fight because I'm sure campbell would bring the fight to JMM, but ionno. Diaz/JMM = more fireworks. Its not like Marquez is taking an easy fight either so lets not make this into "JMM is taking an easy fight rather than face a live opponent". This dude is a freakin natural featherweight.

I think Marquez is obsessed with getting a 3rd Pacquiao fight and doesn't want to take any risks that might jeopardize that from happening, and campbell is seen as a risk.

This should happen as the linear champ will finally be the guy with all the belts.

                didnt catch that...you're right

and yes, that undercard bout with be off the hook...even the purists that are boycotting the fight would have to watch...and it would be a brilliant stylisctic clash

Diaz is one of my favorite fighters, but he doesnt hit nearly as hard as Campbell. Campbell vs. Marquez would be a more exciting bout.

If Campbell signs with GBP, there is a pretty good chance the fight gets made. If he signs with someone else, the chances decrease considerably. This has nothing to do with fear on JMM's part. Anyone who thinks that is being very naive.
