Marquez Vs Diaz In Negotiation For Early 2009 Bout In Las Vegas

MARQUEZ VS DIAZ IN NEGOTIATION FOR EARLY 2009 BOUT IN LAS VEGAS

    By Dong Secuya

Negotiation is now going on for Ring ****zine lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez to face former lightweight king Juan Diaz for an early 2009 bout in Las Vegas, the Mexican paper Esto has reported.

Golden Boy Promotions, which promote both fighters, is said to be currently doing an offer to both Mexican fighters and Marquez and Diaz are expected to decide shortly whether to push through with the fight or not.

Marquez won the Ring belt from Joel Casamayor of Cuba last Sep. 13 via a 10th round stoppage in Las Vegas and said he hoped to win a regular lightweight title in 2009 as well as face pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao for the third time or any another top caliber fighters including a rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera.

Juan Diaz held the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight titles before American Nate Campbell snatched the belts from him last March in Cancun, Mexico.

This one should be good…if JMM can stay vertical for 12 rounds, he’ll win on points

this is good news and the winner of diaz/marquez can take on campbell/funeka later since they supposed to get it on in dec.

        I got Diaz by decision.

I can't believe how badly people underrate Diaz. He is one of the best fighters in the sport.

This one could be one sided either way. Or a barn burner.

              Juan Diaz throws consitantly.

              Marquez can counter you consitantly.

Great match up. Could of been Marquez v. Campbell but Campbell didn't want to wait till November to fight. Whoever wins this wiill have to face Campbell.

Wow so it seems like this fight is being made, glad to hear, really difficult because both are great boxers, it will be interesting how Marquez handles Diaz's speed and pressure and Diaz handle Marquez's power and counter-punching abilities, this will probably be a FOTY candidate, I got Marquez by desicion mainly because of his experience.
