MARQUEZ VS DIAZ IN NEGOTIATION FOR EARLY 2009 BOUT IN LAS VEGAS

Negotiation is now going on for Ring ****zine lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez to face former lightweight king Juan Diaz for an early 2009 bout in Las Vegas, the Mexican paper Esto has reported.
Golden Boy Promotions, which promote both fighters, is said to be currently doing an offer to both Mexican fighters and Marquez and Diaz are expected to decide shortly whether to push through with the fight or not.
Marquez won the Ring belt from Joel Casamayor of Cuba last Sep. 13 via a 10th round stoppage in Las Vegas and said he hoped to win a regular lightweight title in 2009 as well as face pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao for the third time or any another top caliber fighters including a rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera.
Juan Diaz held the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight titles before American Nate Campbell snatched the belts from him last March in Cancun, Mexico.
