Roach: "Khan Needs 4/5 Fights Before a Title Shot"

Freddie Roach, the new trainer of UK lightweight star Amir Khan, says the fighter will needs at least 4 to 5 fights before he puts himself back in line for a title shot. Khan was on the verge of a major title shot when he was demolished last month in 54-seconds by Breidis Prescott. He later demoted trainer Jorge Rubio and hired Roach to be the head trainer. Roach says there will be no rush to get Khan in with one of the champions at 135. [details]

People say what's wrong with boxing - talking title shots for a guy who just got smoked in an under a minute is what's wrong...and what's sad is that some organization will sanction it...

I agree with Roach khan needs 4 or 5 fights before he can get a shot at the title...at least they aint rushing him give him 5 credible tough durable foes and let him learn more and spar better guys like pacquiao should help khan better.

khan developed over confidence and bad habits because he was sparring and fighting low level guys so he dropped his basics and when he fought an unknown power puncher with good basics and sits down on his shots he got smoked.

the loss might be a blessing in disguise for the kid...the spotlight is now off as everyone has written him off...he's training in the US, no hype just boxing basics...we'll see how he comes back

he says a little hiccup in vid clip, he he hee he!
roach is realistic and into money for his time.
whether or not khan ever has any impact at ltwt
is doubtfull but i'm sure with roaches help he will improve.
maybe enough to go back to europe to stay and fight for regional and
                lesser european belts.

The loss was a blessing. Now he doesn't have to wait a lifetime to box with Pac.

at least worthless khan lost that gift he got of being ranked in the top ten.
that was so pathetic having a lackey dweeb like conn ranked so high.
all that did was cast another black eye on boxing. and give his casual
lightweight boxing fans like tunney and others fodder to make outlandish comments like khan would have a chance against top ten ltwts.
