    Harold Letterman comment.

So I'm at the fight yesterday and I'm still in shock that shane had K.O'd Mayorga with 1 second left in the last round, So I see Harold letterman pass by me and I asked him how he had it scored and he tells me that he had it 8-3 for Mosley but then he says that their should be a law about a fighter having to go all the way to the nutural corner when their's a knockdown because Mosely was right on top of him after that 1st knockdown, what do you guys think?

I did think when I saw it that Shane was pretty close to Mayorga when he went down the first time.

I watched the fight and scored it closer than Harold, but could see why he had it the way he did. Mayorga's work was not exactly impressive.

I agree about the neutral corner thing, and to be honest I actually think the fight should have been stopped after the first KD, when Mayorga got up he clearly didn't even know where the referee was.

In Britain referees are a lot more protective of the hurt fighter, whereas I have seen many unneccesary beatings in US rings.

that is very true, Terry O`Connor saved the life of young Peter Manfredo

although Amir Khan was out after the first kd and was shaking everywhere and he let it continue, bad ref

It was ridiculous Khan was allowed to continue, he was done. I don't think manfredo was in any danger of being hurt there and then, but that fight was headed for a one sided beating.

              I agree.

I think the Michael Watson and Gerald McClellan injuries had a large part to play it that. Obviously there are similar occurrences in other countries, but these were very high profile world title fights and so leave more of an impression.

The Paul Ingle and Spencer Oliver defeats also concerned a lot of people.

I agree completely. Can you even imagine the outcry if Amir Khan had suffered the same fate as Michael Watson? I think boxing would run a very serious risk of being banned in the UK.

I don't agree with this. Mayorga wasn't taking an inordinate amount of punishment throughout the fight and was rightfully given the count after the first knockdown. IMO there was no reason to stop the fight at that point...

Well, it was close to the end of the fight and you're quite right that Mayorga had not shipped too much damage. The fact is though that he didn't even know where the ref was and was clearly not in a fit state to continue, hence the immediate one punch KO.
