How is Mosley vs Mayorga gonna go?

For whatever reason, this fight is not grabbing my attention as much as I thought it would. There was no prefight countdown show. Not a lot of publicity. Oscar is hogging up all the media coverage. Shame on him.

Anyway, I want to be excited for the fight this weekend. This is a very intriguing matchup. How do you all BSers think it will turn out?

Is Mayorga shot in the chin department after taking beatdowns from Tito and Oscar? Will he follow the same road that Fernando Vargas did against the top three (Oscar, Tito, Shane)? Or will size be the difference in this one, Mayorga being naturally larger and heavier handed. Does Shane have enough pop to hurt Ricardo?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm trying to hype myself up for the fight.

Fair few questions will be answered by this fight. Both guys are definately past prime but I think the fight will show how much. If Shane is anywhere near his best I think he should beat Ricardo fairly easily. He should be took quick and have too much skill. Mayorga is one tough bastard though so you cannot discount him. If he gets stopped early, he is totally shot and needs to give it away. I think the most logical outcome is a semi-wide UD for Shane. Be pulling for Ricardo all the way though, WAR MAYORGA!

I think Mosley is going to beat Mayorga to the punch all night and when Mayorga gets his punches off Mosley will be blocking or slipping most of them and then countering. I think he'll stay in the pocket with Mayorga so that Mayorga can't get any extension on his punches, I also expect Mosley to go to the body more in this fight then go up to the head. Mosley TKO 5 or 6.

I imagine there will be a ring. I'm assuming that one fighter will emerge from his locker room wearing some sort of robe, he will then make his way to the ring while music plays over a PA system. The other fighter will likely try to follow this routine, only with a robe of his own and his own personal entrance song.

The fighters will climb up the stairs and into the ring, where they will stand in corners opposite each other. From there they will bounce up and down and shadowbox while an announcer, presumably Michael Buffer, introduces them.

The crowd will cheer and the fighters will take off their robes, and put in their mouthpieces. The ring will clear of everybody except the 2 fighters and the referee.

The two fighters will be called to the center of the ring where the referee will instruct them of the rules. From there they will likely touch gloves, though this is not always a given, and return to their respective corners whilst waiting for the opening bell.

The bell will sound and the fighters will come out towards the center of the ring and engage one another for 3 minutes before another bell sounds, sending them back to their corner for a brief one minute break. In the corner I imagine they'll drink and gargle water while their trainer tells them what they did well and what they need to do more of.

If a cut has been caused, the cutman will most likely start going to work on stopping the bleeding or using an endswell to push the swelling away from the fighter's field of vision.

After the one minute break, another bell will sound and the fighters will return to battle for another 3 minute period. This shall continue for either a full 12 rounds or until the referee stops the fight due to a knockout or technical knockout.

All the while 3 judges will sit ringside and score the fight on a 10 point must system, with 10 points going to the winner of the round, and 9 or less going to the loser depending on a knockdown. Points can be acessed by the referee for low blows, repeated clinching, and other fouls of the sort.

If nobody is knocked out at the end of 12 rounds the fighter with the most points will be ruled as the winner.

(I imagine it will go something like this.)

Sorry I'm bored. For real though, Mosley by either a wide UD or late TKO. I'll say UD to be on the safe side.

I'm rooting for Mayorga to win but I think Mosley either knocks him out late or wins a UD.

Shane couldn't even stop Collazo, if Mayorga makes a mistake Shane can catch him but I think this will be a one sided beat down similar to the fight shane had with collazo.

Oscar did a tremendous job at staying in the pocket in his first round with Mayorga, dropping him with a quick left. So you think Mosley will try a similar game plan?
