Guzman is a great boxer but i don't know what he was thinking, i think he's blown his big opportunity to become a great fighter.

How many fighters had gone up the ring right after they shed there pounds off, and after the fight they end up hours later either dead, paralyzed, or injure for life? Example to this was a young 20 year old Bantamweight and gold-medol favorite for the 29th Olympic games, Gary Russell Jr. Who collapsed and was unable to participate. He didn't make the mandatory weight requirement needed to compete 119 pounds. Trying to shed of his pounds he was found unconscious and extremely dehydrated in his dorm room. OK. Also an example is Jose Luis Castillo didn't make weight for his fight vs Diego Corrales in October 2005 rematch.... ( OOOhh... dont forget Diego Corrales also was down that road too..., sacrificing his life and to go forward, he was paid for by dirty promoters to get knocked out in the fourth round. I see thats were the sport of boxing came too now in-days. WHAT A SPORT!!.) Joan Guzman Is a real champion, Don't give a damn what everyone in the game says. What happen to him on September 13 could of happen to any other boxer in the world. If anyone one could read their own destiny it would be a perfect world... Keep on moving up, don't give up, and show does people talking negative about you that you do have a great talent and your a hard training fighter. A Fighter coming to camp over-weight 170Lb and bringing it down to 138.5 in just 8 weeks of training he is a warrior. Joan Guzman champ always. I am with you. People say " OOO Nate worked hard and need to get pay." Yea he did worked hard and he does needs to get pay i do agree to that, but you think is fare after dehydrated and been in the hospital after throwing up blood, a fighter should go up into the ring and risk his life? I agree with Guzman, health comes first in front of anything, then money. A fighter knowing that he is fighting his biggest fight of his time and getting pay big time, you think on purpose he will pull out? Don't think so. I met the guy, i had spoken to the guy, and he has a grate spirit, he is a grate person. I don't think he shouldn't be going through this. One thing i do agree with, is that he will be back as a stronger and a more focus fighter, a new Joan Guzman. I do think he learned from his mistake and for sure he won't do it again. I guaranty that Joan won't take a vacation to the Dominican Republic anytime sooner, i bet he is now training harder... Hope the people see the new Guzman coming and learn how to forgive him and give him a chance to fight. Suerte Campeon....( Good Luck Champ)

judah took the spinks rematch for like 100k to spinks' million dollar pay day or something.

joan needs to do this, expeditiously - make it incentive laden for any big name to fight him or else hes royally screwed.

real bad, lazy look for the man.

More than two weeks after Guzman’s “blow-up in Biloxi,” he is still feeling the repercussions of failing to make the lightweight limit and wrecking his Sept. 13 match with Nate Campbell.

Guzman has trouble sleeping, frets about losing his fan base, and worries that time is running out on his career.

                  Cue the violins.

After hearing a mouthful from Campbell and everyone else regarding this debacle, perhaps it's time to listen to Guzman, minus a touching press release.

“I don’t have much longer in this sport,” Guzman said on Friday, holding out his hands. “I don’t feel pressure or that I have to rush or anything, but I do worry about losing time and opportunities and my reputation suffering.”

The fallout from his actions, or lack thereof, has been pretty nasty.

Campbell, the WBA, WBO, IBF lightweight champ, has appropriately lambasted Guzma n for costing him a $300,000 paycheck.

Guzman (28-0, 17 KO) may also be the target of a lawsuit by Campbell’s co-promoter, Terry Trekas. [details]
guzman deserves to get in the back of the line to get any kind of title fights and hopefully he stops complaining about not getting his chance... he just squandered his best chance at the big time.
