Hopkins feels Pavlik fight may be step too far?

Something is different about Bernard, almost as if he understands the huge task of beating heavy hitter Pavlik. Bernard has faired very, very well out of his last 5 fights (Calzaghe, Wright, Tarver, Taylor x 2). But in all the build up to those fights I never heard Hopkins utter anything but confidence.

Take a look at this interview for example. At one point Bernard suggests that people shouldn't worry about him, because he's never been beaten up before. He goes on to say this fight may be the only one where he gets beat up, or it may not (alluding that Pavlik's power may be something he just can't avoid).

I also find it interesting how sincere Bernard comes across in this interview. Sometimes he can seem like a really good guy, when he's not saying ridiculous things.

All in all, I hope that he comes out of this fight safe and with the wisdom to call it a day, whatever the outcome. Although he does things to annoy me sometimes, he is still a great fighter and has been a fantastic character in the modern world of boxing.

I think what it boils down to is no gamemanship for this fight just mutual respect between both guys.

After watching that interview I think Hopkins should retire.

Bernard's just happy that Pavlik gave Taylor the beating that he couldn't do himself.

Bernard has fallen victim to the Calzaghe ruling, the law that states every opponent Calzaghe beats must immediately lose all regard in boxing circles. Its pretty clear that the majority in boxing expect Bernard to lose this one, wildly exaggerating the degree to which he looked old and gassed in the Calz fight. This is a first for him. Perhaps he realises this and has decided to change tack and let his fists do the talking on the night. He must realise he has a more than decent chance of beating Pavlik.

Yeah that's something I forgot to mention. I think the last time Hopkins didn't take some sort of stance was for Taylor 2? But even then he was deliberately letting Taylor do the promotion.

I think it's just that he really respects Pavlik and has nothing, well not many, bad things to say about him and I think this may be his last fight.

I think that Hopkins is gonna do better than most seem to think in this fight!
I think Hopkins will hugg... then ...hold..then ..spoil ...then ...sham ... just like he did in the calzaghe fight !
I really do think Pavlic will struggle to look good against that IMO!
