The hardest thing a fighter has to deal with, is straight punches down the pipe.

I like Joe, but if he gets in front of Pavlik winging those hooks and not protecting himself, he will get knocked down on his ass, and more than just once.

Before you say well Joe moves in angles and Pavlik doesn't, well let me add that Pavlik does not need to. He is rangy enough that opponents have to come to him if they want any success at all. They got Lockett to try the Calzaghe like lunging in while throwing punches and he got smacked around for all his trouble. Joe is close to the same height and reach as Lockett. I'm not comparing Joe and Lockett on the same level, but what they will have to deal with is the same

I don't hype up any fighter. I also do not carry a nationalism element like you do. You hate "yanks" and just look for a way to downgrade Pavlik due to some pathetic attempt to make yourself feel better. Pavlik is beatable and the Joe of two years ago would have beat him. The current Joe, well lets just say he has his work cut out for him.

Pavlik is no technical genius in there, but what he brings is very formidable. Those who refuse to see it are in denile. You do not need to be a Mayweather in this game to enjoy success. You need to use what you do well and Pavlik does just that.

the video shows a joe of two years ago and u said pavlik would have beaten that?

lockett is no where near as big as calzaghe, no where near as fast, powerful or accurate and has no foot work.

            poor comparison

Obviously you're having a hard time reading. May I suggest Hooked On Phonics?

I said the Joe of two years ago, may have been too much for Pavlik. I also said earlier that I was not comparing Joe and Lockett on a technical level, but on a level where they have only a one inch difference in height and the same reach. They have to both come to Pavlik and that is where the trouble lies.

I would bet Money that the current Lockett probably hits harder than the current Joe. Joe is much faster but Joe still has to come to Pavlik regardless of footwork.

Joe comes to every opponent he's ever met. So what's the problem, Gary Lockett is just a average fighter, Joe is absolutely no average Joe. But Pavlik isn't average at all either. But just look at Calzaghe's movement, I think it'll be waaay too much for Pavlik, even if he puts on some more clean shots on Calzaghe and puts on a better fight than Lacy, I still don't think there is a chance at all. In my opinion he is not proved enough yet, let's see what happens in the Hopkins fight. Are we even THAT sure that he hits so hard? Calzaghe had same KO rate as Pavlik when he were at 30 fights.

With all the movement, he still gets in front of his opponent and squares up to throw punches. That is where Joe is vulnerable. Pavlik is not a huge puncher, but he hits hard and throws a lot of punches himself. Joe will not square up against him and get away with it. He will have to do something different against Pavlik to beat him. He very well may do something different, but in this case he has too IMO.
