Why does TheRing have Hopkins as #4 p4p but Calderon not in the top 10?

Hopkins shouldn't be #4 p4p, and Calderon should be somewhere in the top ten.

Most agree with you on that point Tunney. What everyone disagrees with is the fact that you claim that one of the best MW champs in the histroy of the sport has no boxing ability.

Hopkins continued P4P status rests largely on his upcoming fight with Pavlik. There's no denying he appears to be a declining fighter who may not really be P4P material anymore. He holds no titles and has lost 3 of his last 5 fights. However, at the moment he doesn't deserve to drop off the list. His major loss, the one that seems to cause everyone to think he should be dropped, was against Calzaghe, then P4P #3-4, now P4P #2, and it was close. Before that he beat Antonio Tarver for the Ring LHW belt and defeated Winky Wright too. Perhaps both of these fighters were past their best, but it doesn't change the fact that Tarver remains an alphabet champ at LHW, and one of the best three or four in the division. Winky too is well regarded, though perhaps shouldn't really have been fighting at LHW.

Looking at this situation, all the evidence says that Hopkins is still competitive at the top end of the LHW division. Throw in his achievements at MW and it is easy to see why he deserves to remain ranked, remember he's come back from being 'done' before, in impressive fashion after losing to Taylor. He might do it again. The Pavlik fight will tell us a lot more, and to be fair if Bernard wants to remain a P4P fighter he really needs a win. For one of the best fighters at LHW to lose twice in succession to guys coming up from lower divisions in their first fight at the weight is not a good sign, and that would make it 4 out of 6 losses with his only wins coming against guys who also were getting on in years. A loss to Pavlik, combined with his others, will be surest indicator that Hopkins is no longer the fighter he was, but it hasn't happened yet, so we should wait and see. Until then he deserves his P4P status.

I love how you always throw in the ex-convict comment. He grew up in a socially-economically depressed area and turned to crime like so many people in his shoes do, not to mention this happened when he was a TEENAGER. He's reformed himself and does not promote crime or violence in addition to helping the community he grew up in, yet you still have the audacity to continue to make cheap shots about him being an ex-criminal. It's absolutely pathetic and your hate clearly shines through.
