I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Monzon hated training and lived a pretty irresponsible lifestyle. Makes his achievements even more impressive in a way.

Monzon was a dilligent trainer when he was younger, and he trained hard for his biggest fights. He was an occassional smoker during his day while he fought mostly after fights. I don't respect him because he killed someone. He got what he deserved in the end anyway.

Monzon was a dirtbag yeah but I want my fighters as criminals, not priests.
But boof, you done good for yourself.

At any rate, you will see some examples of guys with immense talent just getting by and doing the minimum.

In a way, you get mad at them, cuz they didn't use their talent enough when others work their asses off just to have a fighting chance.

Monzon the fighter was great, but you have to be a greater person. You can not murder anyone. Revenge is one thing, but murder...no.

Yeah murder has it's place (child ******ers, killers, and such) but yeah I agree I don't have to like a person as a man to like what he does in the ring.
You as well as anyone knows Boof, they ain't playin tiddlywinks.
If someone is coming to take my head off, don't expect me to be a good sportsman or play nice.

              LOL....

                Heard of Young Griffo?

                Or, Nicolino Locche?

Griffo seldom, if ever, trained and was reportedly seen--at least, once--to have crawled to the ring apron after having been KD'd, grabbed a drink from a bottle of whisky that was there then, stood up, resumed the fight, and won by decision!

His biography in Canastota says, he was also often drunk entering the ring.

On the other hand, Locche has often been reported as having sometimes taken puffs on cigarettes BETWEEN ROUNDS!

Like Monzon, both are in the Hall of Fame.
