RJJ is my second favorite alltime with Mike Tyson. Still I feel like if Joe loses, he loses all credibility. Whereas RJJ's skills have obviously deteriorated and he really has nothing to lose in this fight. No one questions RJJ's legitimacy whereas Calzaghe's worth is always being called out.

I don't think so. Prime for Prime, I think Calzaghe gives Roy one of, if not the, toughest fight of his life, and vice-versa.

He (Zaggs, in his prime) was lightning quick, had plenty of power, very unconventional, has always had an iron chin, awkward style, punches from all angles, very high work rate....I really don't know who'd win, but I'm not at all convinced either guy would've just "wiped his ass" with the other. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I think that, with both guys in their prime, it would've been a spectacular classic, a give and take, one of those fights that puts boxing back into the mind of the general public. And there'd have been at least a rematch, probably even a rubber match, as I think the first and second fights would probably be so close that even if the same guy won both, there'd be too much money involved to NOT have a rubber match.

Too many of you guys get enamoured of a particular fighter and start thinking he's superman, especially someone like a prime RJJ, who's so obviously superior to nearly everyone he's ever faced. I think many tend to forget that styles are what truly makes a fight, and whether Roy was superior to Zaggs in their primes or not (and I'm not at all convinced he was better...certainly different, more fluid, but better? I just don't know) the styles matchup would've been a tough one for both, and impossible to make such an arbitrary prediction as the one above.

And to be honest, I think the fight they're about to have will be a fantastic show, for at least the first half, and even though I think Calzaghe will win, it won't be one-sided. I think Roy will look like the RJJ of old, will be brilliant, quick, and his fans (and I'm a big one) will be reminded of the Roy they knew so well several years ago. I also think that Calzaghe is going to pull out all stops himself, with the intent to leave everything in the ring for what will probably be his last fight (unless Roy can talk him into a rematch or two, and I know he'd love to...so would I).

Sure, I'd have preferred to see them both meet in their primes, but there's a helluva lot to be said in favor of them meeting now, instead. They're both seasoned, highly experienced, vastly smarter than they were in their younger days, and have increased in skill and ring-smarts far more than they've declined in speed and stamina.

Anyone, and I mean anyone who doesn't think this is going to easily be the best fight of the year is no fan of boxing at all, and ought to have the **** slapped out of you.

Having said all that, I predict a close UD in favor of Zaggs, simply because of his higher work rate and better stamina. I think Jones could possibly be the first man every to stop Zaggs (very slim chance, but definitely there), but to do that, he'll have to risk everything in the first few rounds, virtually guaranteeing that, if he's unsuccessful in stopping Joe, he'll be stopped himself in late rounds.

I'm looking forward to this fight far more than I was for the Peter/Vitali fight (there was only one way for that one to go, and it was simply a matter of curiousity even watching it), and any of you ****nuts that don't feel the same can kiss my hairy and well-muscled ass.
