You have to out box Hagler and out think him, which is why i believe that Hopkins could give him a run for his money. You make a good point about the size though, although Hagler was always in excellent condition.
Conditioning and chin wouldn't be an issue for either fighter. It will never be a knockout-fight IMO. I said I favoured Hagler slightly over 12 rounds, but I can see arguments for it going the other way as well.

It would be an awkward fight though with 2 southpaws in the ring.

I am not a Calzaghe studier so I might be wrong, but I cannot think of any fight where Joe has taken more than 2-3 hard punches in succession and Joe has never looked even remotely hurt.

And remember that Hagler is not a big puncher at all.
this some kind of joke? 52 kos out of 62 wins and he ko'd everyone in his title fights but duran and leonard(2 all time greats if you didn't know) and calzaghe has been hurt badly by mitchell and pretty badly against salem too. might wanna watch those again and see him go down and get shook up.

I said that I wasn't a Calzaghe studier remember? But from what I've seen Joe's chin is unquestionable.

If you think Hagler was a big puncher then, no offense but, you're very wrong. Hagler was a brawler who wore down his opponents. Don't get caught up in numbers because then you might think that even Joe has a decent whack by looking at ko%.

he's not a one punch ko guy obviously but he knocks people out thats for sure. and not calzaghe knockouts where he doesn't land anything and the ref steps in. also he ko'd everyone in title fights(good opposition) but leonard and duran. where as calzaghe racked up a lot of ko's early on and had a less than 50% ko ratio in title fights. so yeah i think i know what i'm talking about.

You obviously know a lot about Calzaghe and Hagler. Hagler wins by clean KO in his titlefights and Calzaghe doesn't land anything and the ref. steps in. Regarding Calzaghe I can only remember the Manfredo fight which matched that destinction. I'm sure you can tell me about the others?

yes plenty. sobot the ref stopped the fight when calzaghe was doing one of his pitty patty flurries on the ropes and landing nothing very similar to manfredo. on his feet. sheika was actually punching calzaghe when the ref jumped in. on his feet. byron mitchell stumbled and the ref stopped it. on his feet. also a bunch of other fights i have seen but can't place a name to the no name opponent. bottom line is he can't punch and gets stoppages based on pity. you seen hagler knock someone out? they are on the ground hurt badly and sometimes don't get up.

Hagler was a small middleweight. How is he going to knock Calzaghe out? He wouldn't be among the fifteen biggest punchers Joe has faced.

Pound for pound Hagler is better, but fights don't take place pound for pound. Joe is too big and fast, and wouldn't be hurt by anything Hagler could land.

You're talking ****. Byron Mitchell was seriously injured, had no idea where he was and took weeks to recover from the beating he took. Sheika was done as well. Those were good stoppages.

Manfredo is a funny stoppage, but that's not Joe's fault. Manfredo froze and didn't fight back. It wasn't about being hurt, but he didn't belong in the ring that night and he realized it. You can't fault the ref too much, only the matchmaking

You're not seriously trying to present a case for Hagler being a big puncher???
