Nice interview. DLH is quite the ***** these days. He's tarnishing his own legacy for big $ when he's already rich enough to raise his great grandchildren's great grandchildren.

DLH only chance of winning BIG FIGHT is against a SMALLER Pacquaio.

Exactly... Thats why he wants to fight a smaller Pacquaio. He wants to be considered great but he always loses big fights (Hopkins, Mosley 2x,Trinidad, Mayweather). His only chance at winning a big fight is against a much smaller Pacquaio. Even a fool knows you can't buy respect.

Fighting Pacquaio is DLH admission of failure against legit opponents

Maybe if DLH was able to take his fans into the ring with him he would still be undefeated? The fact is though that he has lost all his big fights. In some strange way he tried to reconcile those losses by hiring fighters who defeated him (Hopkins, Mosley) to work for him at Golden Boy but the losses still remained and the respect still has eluded him. The only way to earn respect in boxing is in the ring and fighting a smaller Pacquaio is only admitting that you cant get it done in big fights against legitimate competition.

            You gotta like Teddy Atlas.
I don't know if I could separate Oscar's career into 2 legacies though.

It's the same guy, do we separate his career - before loss/after loss? or a 2nd side to him?
I don't know, why not accept both the victories and the losses of a boxer?, and hopefully respect a fighter who's faced some of the best - A guy who in the past cared more about good opposition than a perfect record.
If I'm not mistaken, there was no drastic change (like Tyson before and after jail) in Oscars career.
            What'd you think Teddy meant?

He's after the money, for no risk - the people who flood the arenas to see him probably haven't seen a fight since the Forbes affair.
            Good post Ekul.

It's easy to lose perspective. We compare all boxers to OUR favorite boxers, so as a fan, we sit on our couch and have the luxury of calling ring heroes a bum, and forget that these "bums" WORSE points far exceeds what most of us have ever accomplished.

I can't stand the thought of Oscar in with Pacman, and like everyone else, wish he'd fight Marg whose been calling him out wrestlemania-style, but this mess up STILL doesn't erase his past or make me HATE Oscar.

You say this fight won't hurt Oscar? You're saying this is NOT a win-win for Pac?

Polomino was right when he said it's a lose-lose situation for Oscar. Pacman fans should be extatic about it, cause if Pac wins - glamorous accomplishment, and if he loses - no biggie the guy was bigger than you anyway, you still got HUGE exposure and more popularity/fans.

            You don't agree with this?

Oscar had a solid legacy until he got whopped by Mosley the first time, after that, it all went down hill, he started fighting nobodys thinking he can make up for those losses but every time he faces a big name he chokes!!! the guy exploits mexican holidays to make money and losses!!! has lost 3 of his last six fights.... Oscar you make me sick!!!!

dlh has already shown he is not a true mexican. he is a whitewashed american. no mexican would try to pick a fight with someone so much smaller while ducking the best welterweight fighter.

I do too although it's not like Margarito camp is saying "**** it lets fight" either. The way I see it is this. They just got off the major fight of the summer, one that did well in PPV and seat sales, and made more of a name for Margarito as he has ever had. In other words, the team now has more pull towards saying who they want to fight then ever. Back in the day the old mantra "I will fight whoever Bob says" would be justifiable as they really never had the push or promotion say a Morales or a Cotto had.

now they do albeit probably on a smaller scale. They should really take the high road and tell Bob they want this fight and to deal with his own personal issues of dealing with Haymon to the side. It's the promoter's best interest to make the best fights for his fighter and since Margarito is unlikely to be DLH's dance partner then the next best fighter out there , both in challenge and in money, is PWill point blank

anything less than DLH or PWill isn't worth it IMO. Even if they are waiting on Shane's date what's the use when Margarito just beat Mosley's conqueror, Miguel Cotto

I hate when fighters hide behind the promoter when it is no longer needed
