Styles make fights. Hopkins is a complete style opposite and style nitemare for Joe Calzaghe, this is well known. He doesn't cope well with such styles and no one is like Hops.
Calzaghe also had a bad performance.
Hopkins will be another 6 months older.
Hopkins is less of a STYLE nitemare for Pavlik, than he is Calzaghe.
Calzaghe looks to win UD's these days with speed not power.
Pavlik hits a hell of a lot harder than Calzaghe and looks to KO.
So it's not at all un reasonable to weigh it up as a KO or UD will be easier to achieve and likely for Pavlik as opposed to Calzaghe.
Wouldn't take much away from Pavlik for the win, it'd be good defo. But these factors are pretty reasonable and well known.

Looking scrapy landing punches is not the same thing as not landing punches, and Calzaghe looked scrappy, but did land. I have no problem with anyone saying Hopkins landed the cleaner harder shots, its true, but in the second half of the fight he probably missed more than Joe did and landed a negligible amount of them. The punching styles of the two guys can be deceiving, you have to look at what actually happened, rather than the aesthetics of it.

Fighter A does not = fighter B.
So their wins against fighter C have to be weighed up considering styles, age, tactics, previous performances, usual winning style, power, speed and more.
If you can't accept such a basic thing as this in comparing boxers then your incredibly simplistic in your assessments.
