Apparently he doesn't study opponents too much and leaves that to fight night. Probably not completely true, or at all but either way I think Calzaghe will have a slow start and come on stronger in the late rounds.
After watching some of Jones fight against tito he looked suspectable to the body shots, thankfully Joe hasn't got the power to deliver or the tendency. A super middle weight version of Hatton on the other hand...

Roy has always hit his opponets so fast, that they didn't believe what thier corners were saying. If Roy gets him thinking things like..WHAT JUST HIT ME!! Joe could be in the same boat. Also to this date I havent seen Jones hurt to the body yet. Joe should be the one jumping on Roy early before Roy warms up. The first 2or3 rounds is where Roy still seems timid to me.
As for Calzaghe's mental strength I don't think at this stage of his career it's in any doubt. Granted he has a **** cornerman, but if he can take a KO from Hopkins and all that physcological **** then I'm sure he'll be alright with Jones' speed.
It would be great if Joe went out with a **** by properly punching, though the thought would be a rarity.

Jones starts to fade and Calzaghe wins the remaining rounds to score an extremely close ud.
Kind of like Hopkins fight but with Joe landing more.
Jones will not be gun shy as everyone seems to think he will be. Watch Clips of the Tarver III fight, the Hanshaw fight (especially the last 2 rounds), or even clips of the Trinidad fight. Every fighter I just mentioned I'm sure hits harder than Mr. Calzaghe with his little glass hands. Roy jones gun shy? About as gun shy as Clint Eastwood when asking the villain to "go ahead and make my day". Jones and his glass chin have nothing to fear with Calzaghe and his busted hands, who doesn't commit to his punches anymore.
When is the last time Mr. Joe Calzaghe KO'ed someone? When was the last time he Knocked down someone? When was the last time he seriously hurt someone? See my point. Jones has nothing to fear.... don't get it twisted.......
Overall Joe has a sloppy style and Roy will clean it up with precise body shots, uppercuts and clean counter punches. Like I said Joe Calzaghe will get frustrated like he did a few times with HOP and several times with Kessler. Roy will take advantage of this and it will result in a slower work rate for joe which is the only advantage I give him other than his excellent endurance. You take the work rate away from him and well you get the idea...........

It will sure be a tough fight on both of them, but Joe has a way of evolving onto the foe. Joe likes aggressive opponents and I think we will see a Joe we've never seen before, he will give into this fight 100 %, no matter what. I really can't see any chance of Roy Jones following the phase Calzaghe will put on, he will be attacking from everywhere in the late rounds.
I agree with you on some points, I think Roy is one of the absolute best fighters you can meet and he will be hardhitting and probably be able to frustrate Calzaghe in a lot of rounds, but what I think is that Calzaghe will get over it, and suddenly turn it around, as we saw in the Kessler fight and the Hopkins fight. I think it will frustrate Jones a lot when he finds out (if he doesn't already know) that Calzaghe is a topclass superior fighter, not just some bum, as a lot of people in here tries to make him look like. He will keep coming, and he will be coming hard and fast, moving well through the whole fight.
I'm sick and tired of hearing people saying that this fight is a fraud, it's completely ******, these fighters are top class, no doubt about it. Let people talk, let people whine or whatever they want to. Basicly the agedifference between these two fighters aren't that big. It's not such a big deal. I just ignore it, and I've noticed a lot of people started to do that, which is a good development in this community.
I expect fireworks, I expect a extremely good fight, and I expect both fighters giving the fight of their life.

My prediction: it depends upon who the judges are.
Joe will deserve to win a close decision, but Roy Jones will very likely win a close decision on the scorecards, if Julie Lederman and another similarly biased boxing judge is working the fight.
If the fight were in Wales, Joe would win a wide decision.
