Antonio Margarito Should Fight Paul Williams, Says Schaefer

Schaefer is a disgrace - he's just saying this to make their having DLH fight Pacquiao, after he said he would fight the Cotto-Margarito winner, defensible!

      [QUOTE=anonymousboxing;3894743]Yea, Prizefighter is correct.
Big shame though, cause there's still other 'prize' fights for him.
I can't believe someone with a reputation of fighting the best would go out on a note like this.

      Fighting Zab Judah?
...I would agree that he shouldn't fight Zab at this point, but I'd disagree
with Marg forever avoiding Zab - a former belt holder. He fought his heart out this past Saturday with intentions of winning. He's probably got some more left in him.

Yeah right! You just want to see your idol KO another smaller guy similar to what Oscar is doing! What happened to the mexicano bravado we used to hear about. PW vs Margie or DUCK. Plain and simple. Margie is not cashing out from ONE big win! Consistency nets success! He just finally cracked the top but is on par with if not beneath PW. Cut the hypocrisy and demand he fights the best available, and it damn sure aint oscar! The sport 1st, fighter 2nd! Most of you NOVICES have yet to learn that!

Then Why doesnt Oscar fight Paul Williams if he is the man at 147?

His biggest money fight would be Paul Williams. So I don't understand what he's waiting for. Clottey is injured. If he fights Judah, then he is clearly avoiding Paul Williams.
          Totally agree..

Whoa! Easy now. What're you getting riled up about Jantzen?

Idol? nah, I had repect for Marg before Cotto, and I respect him much more after Cotto.
It was Cotto I watched from his olympic days and never missed one of his fights. When a guy like Marg comes along and takes Cotto's best shots, it speaks volumes.

                Zab's a smaller guy?
                Of coarse he is. Height-wise.
But does that mean you'd never want to see Cotto in the ring with Williams?
There's a big difference in height there.
There the same weight, regardless, and yes, if Marg ever takes Zab on, I'd tune in to watch that.

That's a big statement calling everyone here novices.
Your presumptions say more about you, than they do about us 'novices'.

Richard needs to quit the excuses....

and just come out and say the matchup vs Margarito would not favor a memorable exit from boxing for his client (DLH). I agree Margarito needs to move on but he's only attempting to exercise the rite of passage that is entitled to fighters once they win the "big fight", which he did. Everyone does it in this business and Tony has earned the right to call out the biggest money fight available to him, especially after DLH said he would fight the winner (of Cotto-Margarito) back in the Spring. I blame Oscar for ducking him but I also understand it business (unfortunately). Oscar would get beat up and he doesn't want his career to end that way.
