Rematch Analysis: Miguel Cotto Should Beat Margarito
Collapse
-
Im not sure Cotto can box any better than he did Saturday. But...... Margarito still cant count on just walking through shots, thats no good. He could get cracked. Nobody in a million years thought Paul Williams would KO Quintana in 1 round in the second fight, after he couldnt hurt him in the first fight. Williams just came back better and hungrier. Cotto will come back better and hungrier.
Cotto was also punching on the back foot. That takes away power and makes it harder to throw body shots. Of course that was due to Margarito backin him up so credit to him. But im just saying Cotto could try and sit on his shots a little more instead of pidy-pat combos and try to work the body more. Also try not to get his nose busted early with an uppercut .
In my opinion, the rematch is just as big a toss up as the first, and it will be even more interesting. They should both rack up 2-3 wins and then rematch. It will be HUGE!

Wasn't able to go inside LOL hewas inside all night getting his bell rung, He was asked why he wasn't able to work the body! As usual selective reading by forum posters.... Objective Journalism is a myth created by newspaper publishers that frankly enforces the sales departments adage don't fu$k with the advertisers. Please read the whole article and not selected parts to be able to slam the author and put forward your own view. Also look up the meaning of op-ed.... LOL

Cotto fought perfectly, there was really not much he could of done differently to try to win this fight, people are quick to judge a fighters performance because they are on the outside looking in, they are not in there playing with fire. Even Cotto himself was humble and decent to admit he tried plan a, b, c & d and just couldn't find a way to beat Margarito, he was also being asked about why he wasn't able to go to inside and he simply said "I just couldn't find a way".
Some of you ****ers are questioning Cotto's footwork, how much better can he get? the guy was practically dancing around the ring and Margarito had a difficult time trying to cut the ring with him due to how well Cotto was moving and Margarito's lack of footspeed. People who criticize Cotto's performance are undermining his abilities and putting down Margarito as well. I really see no difference in a rematch, I think Margarito has the tools to beat a guy like Cotto, plus he has the mental advantage at this point.

Well I was a nuthugger when I wrote that Margo would beat Cotto and now again when I write that Cotto could win the rematch.... Must be entertaining though because you are reading it... Thats the point of writing to get people to be entertained... Time will tell if I am correct or not...

just like those who predicted cintron could just correct his mistakes and improve against margarito he couldnt because marg gave him the worst beating of his life and it noticed on how he fighted and his confidence
just like cintron, cotto was an undefeated fighter but he broke down due to pressure thats the worst way to lose
u can get knocked out cold but u tell urself it was a lucky shot margarito beating cotto had nothing to do with luck he bullied him in the ring and will do it again
this time with less resistance on the part of cotto because he will be a softer weaker man than in the first fight

As for this particular one, Cotto might beat margarito in a rematch, but I don't see any reason to say that he should. He boxed pretty well as it was, and still lost, so to win he would have to box even better, which we don't know if he can do.

The article fails to mention the mental side of a second fight. Cotto really did box beautifully in the first half of the fight and was on his way to a dec victory. Then, well, we all know what happened.
So, I think the biggest question would be what would Cotto's mentality be against a fighter that had stopped him in a fight where Miguel looked really good?
