I don't have a problem with it... it just makes me laugh, because when you think about it, it is pretty non-sensical to automatically assume that someone is a certain race because of what boxer they choose to have as their avatar.

percentage wise it probably makes sense as far as nationality. i don't know how it works with race though.

if you see ricky or joe on a sig , i bet you more than likely it's a brit.

if you see cotto or lopez , more than likely the guy is puerto rican.

People always scoff at me when I say I have never seen Adrian Diaconu... He doesn't get shown on American TV... and I live in America... he's obviously not going to be one of my favorites... it would suck having to sopcast it every time he fights.

I will say that Juan Manuel Lopez might soon be one of my favorites if I like what I see in his next match with whoever that may be.

I think it is kind of lame to cheer for someone from your own country purely on that basis, but it makes sense because home fighters are going to get a hell of a lot more coverage on their local TV than foreign fighters.

i don't think it's lame. i root for all types of fighters but i admit a soft spot for fighters from my country.

Maybe it's just because I am American and we have so many fighters on the championship level... it might be different for an Armenian or something, because not many Abrahams, Darchinyans or Martynosians (sp?) come along...

Idk, I just think it would be lame of me to want Timothy Bradley to beat Junior Witter purely on the basis that he is American. I've seen Witter fight before and not Bradley, so I think that would be lame to hope for a Bradley win, just because he resides on the same piece of political territory as I do.

we have a lot of fighters from different styles and backgrounds.

oh don't get me wrong i'll root for the fighters i prefer but if a guy is from say america or philippines (where i was born) then i might root for him against someone i don't know or root for.

obviously tua is my favorite so even if he fights an american i'll still root for tua.
